Instramental sections

Postby thistledown » Tue Feb 04, 2003 7:16 pm

I have a couple of vids that I'm working on and going fairly well, but I'm stuck at one point. I'm not sure what to do for any of the intramental sections of the songs. Specificaly, the songs I'm using are Ruby Tuesday and Turn, turn, turn. I managed to get some great lyric matches to many shows, but can't get the other parts down. Any ideas?
The sword, it thirsts to drink of man,
The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.

Depends on the animes you're using and what story you're going for

I don't know if it'll work here, but I find that instemetal parts are best on avarage for thought provoking, reviewing the story, or expressing the hight of an emotion. But, like said before in this thread, it depends.

The instrumental section is often dificult to do because you have to show things that match the overall flow and tone (sometimes theme) of the video without losing anything and with no lyrics to follow. Your best bet is to mostly follow the melody but have at least something synched to the harmony and don't do any fancy editing or style that doesn't match with the rest of the video, otherwise it just looks odd.

instrumental is always my hardest part. What I usualy do is zoom out on the timeline so I can see the entire (if you use premiere that is) and watch what I have done so far. Since each video is planed (you do plan your videos right?) I can see what is going to come before and after the instrumental and I try to figure out how to make them flow together. I hope this helps

For Ruby Tuesday I am using the London Symphany Orchestra version, set to Cowboy Bebop. The version has a very long instramental opening before the lyrics start.

For Turn, by the Byrds, I am using a mix of Ah my Goddess, Bebop, Trigun, and Love hina, one for each verse. The instramental is between Love hina and Goddess (The 3rd and 4th verses) and is basically another verse without lyrics. Also I'm still thinking of changing out the love hina footage for X.
The sword, it thirsts to drink of man,
The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.

Series, definately I really didn't care for the movie. The verse in question for X or love hina is:

A time of love
a time of hate
a time of war
a time of peace
a time you may embrace
a time to refrain from embracing

the instramental comes in just after this verse, then goes on to

a time to gain
a time to lose
a time to rend
a time to sew
a time for love
a time for hate
a time for peace I swear its not too late.

For which I am using Ah my goddess.
The sword, it thirsts to drink of man,
The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.
