Simple, reencode the video(s) to MPEG. AVI's and the such just refuse to convert through Nero.

I almost wrote a guide on this once but then didnt :\

anyways. If you're picky about burning programs you wouldnt be using Nero :| cdrdao is considered the most reliable burning tool (it burns images, so you need a separate program to author the vcd).
Are your videos already properly encoded? If so the best authoring program I know of is VCDEasy (well the best gui for vcdimager which is the best authoring program).
If they arent encoded right you've got to use TMPG to encode to compliant VCD first

VCDEasy comes with cdrdao btw, if you need those tools theyre on doom9's software page

I've never had a problem. You just can't make menus with older versions of Nero. Everything has to be in mpeg format and then added to the Nero playlist.

Yeh, i had the same problem. I was trying to burn End Of Evangelion onto VCD so i could watch it with no funny lookin screen distortions that happen with TV-out. It encoded it all, but then said the CD wasnt big enough. Whats the procedure for that? O i was usin Nero, btw.

Well the fact that a VCD can only hold about 74Mins of video may be a bit of a clue :\ What with EoE being around a hour & a half.

Yes, yes there are, and they suck. Often they can cause your laser to overextend, resulting in total CD-RW devastation. In short, 90 minute CD-R's=Bad/evil.

aah, that makes sense. Thats what i originally thought, although i read somewhere that VCD's can hold a few hours of video cause its compressed or something? Oh well.

VCDs are Constant Bit Rate, so alot of data is probably wasted in places it shouldn't. If it wasn't CBR then it would probably be harder to tell how much a CD could hold, I doubt that you'd ever reach multiple hours using a single CD w/ MPEG1.

thanx, that helps alot. O well, guess EoE is gonna stay right where it is. Ill just buy the DVD next time i get paid. That has the English dub on it too, even though Fiyutski and Huga are voiced by diff. ppl (Huga is now voiced by a black guy. go figure. white guy > black voice just doesnt fit.) The chick who does misato sounded a bit off, too.
