help to find stite

Postby Spellbinder » Fri Jan 31, 2003 8:49 am

I've been a amv collector for a few years. I used to have an impresive collection, but i had to re-formate my hard drive and i could only save less than half of them. my main gripe is there was a site i used to know that was a data base of thousands of amv's and you could search by song title, anime show, movie, videogame, etc. but i lost the address, i anyone knows this address to this site or a similer site please reply and tell me.

Sure, I think we can help you with this. First look at your browser window. In the upper left of it, you should see a large logo that says A M V / AnimeMusicVideos.Org. Click on that. The look down the left-hand side under the menu labelled 'Main Menu'. Three lines below the 'Forum' link you probably clicked to get here are the words 'Search Vids'. Click on this, and Viola! You'll probalby want the 'Super Search'.

Sorry for the tone, but this just seems a bit silly, and I'm in a strange mood.

Silly isn't a descriptive enough word to cover the irony of that post. I still wonder how people can find the forum and not the site. :?
Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.

I doubt the majority of posters know about the Golden Donut either. Since the board for that topic is located somewhere near the bottom of the list of boards, and if they never visit the main site either, then they'll have no clue what it is whatsoever. :?

I Just checked the Memberlist, according to it we are up to 48598 members, give or take a hundred or so for people who have multiple/studio accounts. If everyone gave 1 dollar, the Donut would be up and running... but if they don't even know about the operation it might be awhile yet.

Actually Spellbinder- despite my somewhat condescending tone, I did answer your question. The link is on the main page of this site. The database you're likely looking for is the reason this site got started in the first place. Things like this forum just sort of evolved around it. It just seems somewhat inconceivable to a number of us that someone could find their way to the forums and sign up for a forum account and not know about the videos database.

As for people not knowing about the Donut, I suppose it is possible that people just have the forums bookmarked and haven't ever heard of it. But, I do know (from encountering them when not logged in) that Phade has pop-up type reminders about the donut on the search pages that you can randomly get, and apparently they've helped donations. I think I'll post something about the possibility of putting a sticky at the top of all the forums about it- that should also help get people's attention.

Spellbinder, this is the place you are looking for: http://www.animemusicvideos.org

If you like what you see, you should also pledge your donation to the Golden Donut of the Anime Music Videos organization. Hmm... now I'm getting a weird idea for an AMV using the pledge of allegiance as a 'song'. Probably it's due to lack of food. Going to eat lunch now.
