Actually, a network file server isn't really such a bad idea. Using a switched Fast Ethernet network will bring you good results, and building a file server is cheap.
As an example...
Nearly all of those partitions (except for the tmpfs filesystem) are usable in some form or another (well, assuming I create a directory I have permissions to) and a good portion of them (nearly half) are network mounts.
There's two more that COULD be mounted here, but that server isn't on.
Show me free-space reports on every node.
As an example...
Code: Select all
trythil@lothlann media $ df

I think you got your units wrong. (Actually, I'm damn sure you did.) The exabyte is a HUGE unit.I have an 870 exabyte NAS. I'm not joking.

(Why can't we edit posts here?)
Oh yeah. As far as speed goes...
That's not too bad -- 66 megs in 11 seconds, especially considering that my network setup at the moment is a bit hosed.

Whoa, what the hell was I smoking? Most of those network mounts aren't even LISTED there. I need to sleep more, or something.trythil wrote:Actually, a network file server isn't really such a bad idea. (We got to get post-editing here. This triple-post stuff by me is just ridiculous.)
And it's not half -- it's actually just over a quarter. Bah. Too tired to think. Or even write correctly. But my point still stands, damnit.
What I meant was...
