The best program out there for what we do is Adobe Premiere, which is $$$ costly... There are other cheaper ones out there, but they're not as l33t as Premiere.

You won't be able to find a free video editor, unless you're willing to do one frame at a time type stuff. If yuo need a cheep one MainActor is only $120 (American). cheep and somewhat powerful!

You won't find software programs on Kazaa. Also, freeware programs for making AMVs is a bad idea. Generally there are too many bugs and they enver do what you want them to do. Keep in mind of Windows Video Maker. Just go buy a program that's reliable.

ummm, I'm just learning myself,
but everything that I found that was free really bites!

the simplest to use that I have found are Asymetric's 4.0
and MGI's VideoWave III with help from Virtual Dub.

Asymetric's 4.0 for the editing of simple two video & sound line fading,
VideoWave III for "Dark Room" affects,
and Virtual Dub for everything else.

I have only $50.00 into everything so far and I'm loving it.

with the help I am recieving from the people on this board, I'm getting really good looking AMV's

of course, I'm still learning the best ways to do things, but this is all I'm using 8)

News flash... yes you WILL find software programs on Kazaa. Almost everything anyone would need is there! Even MAYA! Most of you probably dont even know what Maya is because it's way beyond the restricted amv world. But just search for adobe premiere 6.0 and You'll find it. Download the biggest file that shows up in the search. Also you will need a crack for adobe premiere so you can generate a working serial code.

I am not encouraging software piracy, simply proving that software CAN be found on KaZaA and that no theripist should sign The Wired Knight's release form just yet.

Well, if you have Windows ME or XP, you could always use Windows Movie Maker. =P

Cinelerra, http://www.heroinewarrior.com

"Professional editing and compositing available for no cost" -- this isn't a lie. The program, even though it is in its beta2 stage, is extremely powerful. (It's also a little buggy too, but as I have access to its sources and as I know C++, I can fix it. :P )

The only issue is that it is only available for Linux and compatible UNIX systems. Thank God I run a couple of those... :)

But, hey, just to open up your options.

By the way --

Software piracy is dumb. Really. Most of the time what you'll find is trojaned and/or doesn't work, so you're hurting yourself. In addition, you're giving the SPA a reason to keep posting its annoying safe-us-starving-developers-from-piracy ads.

There's no reason to pirate things when free (as in freedom and beer; see the GNU Project for more info) alternatives exist.

Oh, and I DO know what Maya is. :)

Yeah, that I do. This is when an EDIT button comes in handy. :)
