There was this one place that was on the same street but on the 300 block... Where as Ushicon was is on the 700 block...

They didn't take online reservations..
($65/day for Thursday & Friday - $75/day for Saturday & Sunday)

Here's a listing of Motel 6's I found in the area...

Some are like 6 minutes driving distance away from the con, so maybe we could pick you up. They seem to be around 29.99 a night also. :D

Ok, from what I gather, a few of you (Hitori and Jbone) *may* need housing while in Austin. As Carlos has already indicated, a lot of us AMV creators live in Austin (Carlos, Willem/Julian, Brad(AtomX), EK and myself). I apologize for not posting earlier (the forum wouldn't let me log on for 4 months!!!), but do you still need a place? BTW MJ, if Willem's place is too crowded, I can easily take you in. In any case, shoot me an e-mail guys and I'll see you guys at Ushicon!

Iron Chef AMV

Postby dwchang » Thu Jan 09, 2003 12:11 pm

I think MJ mentioned this, but are we gonna do that Iron Chef idea that was thrown around during AnimeFest? I still like *my* (:-P) idea of each of us choosing an anime and song, putting each into two hats and each of us drawing from that hat. The song and anime you get is what you edit with. Kind of like the lottery...of doom :-P.

This could be really interesting, because most of us have *very* different tastes. Let's say someone chooses some lovey dovey song and some cute anime like Card Captor Sakura and another chooses some hard-core death metal and some violent anime (Ninja Scroll). However, when they draw they get something like Card Captor Sakura to Limp Bizkit. It would make for some interesting videos.

This would require some coordination (like now), but I think it would be a blast. Any ideas? I for one can't wait to edit with my dual CPU of doom (just ask Brad). Mwahahah!

Well Ushicon is in Austin and A-Kon is in Dallas, so I would be unable to help you out with housing.

Well I guess that means we should start discussing plans for this little competition. I guess one day when we're all online I'll make a little AIM chatroom and we'll discuss....

Ok. Does anybody know what things are happening on what days?

What day/time is the showcase?
What day/time is the panel(s)? (if there is gonna be one)
What day/time is the Iron Chef?
What other fun cool stuff (other than the dealer room) is gonna be at the con?

The Ushicon site doesnt really much in terms of a schedule. I just wanna know if I should bother paying for all 3 days if I'm only gonna want to be there for one of the days.

I believe the showcase and panels is on Saturday. I *think* the showcase is at 9 p.m. As for panels, I believe there are two (a beginner's and advance). I'm guessing they're both on Saturday.

As for the Iron Chef, I *think* Wonka or MJ mentioned it being Saturday, however I do know they have to judge for the Mindwarp Online Contest as well (which will be a feat in itself).

In any case, I was about to post something similar to this so here goes:

-What time will you (being a creator) be at the con?
-If most of us are there at the same time, where would you like to meet? (especially since most of us know each other)
-Lunch Saturday?
-I hear there's an AMV roundtable as well (from MJ).
-As for Iron Chef, I was planning on getting a chatroom when Carlos, MJ, Atom and either wonka and beo was on. I guess I'll try today. Anyone who is interested will of course need a computer. I guess more info can be posted here.

Hey Guys,

Well, I don't have a car currently so I don't know what time I will be going to Ushicon....plus I my last class is at 1pm on Friday. I can't really skip this class cause I like it too much.

I don't know what time Wonka or MJ will pick me up from my apartment.

Wonka has my phone number. I'm not sure if MJ does too.

I gotta get shit ready for the panel!!!!

 :D
