Enough with spoilers

Postby Lone Wolf » Tue Dec 31, 2002 12:44 pm

Alright. I am sick and tired of not being able to read a topic in peace because the fear of having a whole anime series ruined is on my mind. I'm sure all of you agree with me. This goes for AMVs too, for I've seen plenty of anime AMVs where there were MAJOR spoilers I didn't know about. If you want to post something that has spoilers in it, please say it will contain spoilers. It's not that difficult to do. For example:

THIS POST HAS SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Luckily, I haven't had TOO many animes ruined this way. From now on, post with care.

I fully understand the posts and spoilers thing and why it's annoying. I have even been guilty of it myself (poor Chaos) when I just plain forgot. I agree people should be more aware and at least warn so it's a read at your own risk and never in the subject header :x

But

How can you watch amvs and expect not to see spoilers? Nearly every amv that is from something you either have not seen any of or have limited knowledge..is going to contain at least minor spoilers.

Granted that you may not know what you are watching but I really think spoilers are a given when it comes to music videos. If you subject yourself to them not realizing that, then you have little to compain about. I've heard of people at amv contests who have to look at the floor for an entire video to avoid the spoilers, but they can't possibly whine at the creator of the vid...they choose to be there and like wise with any downloads you have.

Labeling minor or major spoilers is rather pointless since if you want to avoid spoilers then you should stay away from nearly any drama or action AMV  It's safe ( I think) to assume only various videos would be relatively spoiler free but that isn't always the case either...

But Il try to post warnings for spoilers and I can promise that I'll never post anything like that Cowboy bebop spoiler....as for my amvs...

Well, have you ever watched an AMV with an anime you've never seen just to see what that anime's like? Nobody should have to watch an AMV where some main character dies or something if they want to see what that anime's like. Hopefully, that garbled string of words you've just read made sense to some of you.

What Misty said does make sense. However, you know if a video has spoilers, because the title would be in red. When you enter a video, you have to say if it has spoilers in it or not. I know that some people ignore this rule, or have different ideas of what spoils a series, but when you're watching one an anime you've never seen, you're doing it at you're own risk. Besides, I don't think that it really ruins the experience anyway. I've always known the end of Evangelion, and when I finally saw it, I was still in shock.

She's just a good friend, lol. Anyway, she's going out of town for a little, and asked me to advertise her site while I'm gone.

I'll try and remember that if ever I get the urge to post something that may require me to.

However I know I shouldn't have but I laughed my head off yesturday when I saw title containing the end of Bebop. I felt really sorry for the people who didn't know because I was devastated when I saw it but it was still funny(I'm so mean). Maybe it was one of you.

No, that wasn't funny. Not at all. I've been waiting to see that since it came out, because nearly everyone I know that saw it said it is one of their top 3 favorite anime. For me, a story that invokes tears is the greatest there can be. That applies to movies, games, books, and especially anime. Anime series', next to books, are the most involving media there is for me. And this was unavoidable. And now, what could definitely have been one of my favorite anime is ruined because of this knowledge. Laugh if you want, but it really isn't funny at all.

But thank you very much, mods, for changing the subject header. Sure it's too late for me, but I know you're doing something right. :P

I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you feel worst it was an uncontrolable urge. I would be just as pissed off if it had of happenned to me but you can still watch it, the news didn't spoil everything that was good about the series. :(

In conclusion I'm sorry I laughed at your misfortune it was wrong of me.
