FLCL - Our Story (First AMV)
I went to my first anime convention in June, A-Kon. I decided to make my first AMV to enter the standard contest. Unfortunately my video was rejected. I didn't intend on releasing it after being rejected, but I decided to anyways in hopes of constructive criticism.
Participation: A-Kon 25 Standard, (2014-06-06)

Sorry if I formatted this wrong, don't know what I'm doing.

It wasn't bad. You have a good handle on internal sync and storytelling...the biggest problem (I felt) was that it didn't feel fleshed out enough. At just over a minute and a half long, there wasn't enough time to really develop your concept and so it ended on really dissatisfying note. Short videos in themselves aren't bad or anything, but the concept in this video felt a lot bigger than the minute and a half it had to present itself. Good start though!

Your sync and timing are GREAT! I really enjoyed watching this. For a first AMV, this is really really great, I think! A lot better than my first, that's for sure! I agree with CrackTheSky, it is a bit short compared to how much it contains. If that makes sense.
Your flow is downright epic, though. I think it could use a few effects, but that's just me. You did an awesome job bringing out the beats, and the emotion stands out well in my opinion. Keep it up!
And don't feel bad about being rejected, get back on that horse and try again! ^^

I recommend not using the same scenes, if you use a scene not use it again, only when necessary, makes no sense to use the same scenes twice if there is not a concept that allows it, on the other hand its editing and sync are very notable

What he said! I am in awe of the subtlety and 'musical grace' that it just felt so smooth! .... however I didn't feel these were the right scenes. I even doubt the source at all (FLCL) would fit with this song, sorry not feelin it, BUT I think you got skills buddy!CrackTheSky wrote:It wasn't bad.
