First thing I did when I got back from my meetings was start typing up the announcement. The delays were honestly because we needed the time.

I would've been ready to post it precisely at 6pm but I got a phone call from a certain assistant manager who caused me to miss that oh-so-precise time. Now I need to wait until 7pm if I want chronological precision, dagnabbit.

The AX2014 AMV Coordinators are proud to announce the competing finalists for the Anime Expo 2014 AMV Competition!!!

I know you guys have waited long and impatiently for this, so I'll keep the preamble brief.

The list below consists strictly of participant names. It is our policy not to announce entry titles until after the event. We shall notify each entrant privately as to which of their specific entries shall be competing. We request (but do not require) that the entrants grant us the courtesy of not disclosing that until after the event.

As seating entertainment prior to the event, we play a “pre-show” exhibition of this year’s non-finalist AMVs on a non-competitive basis. This playlist is picked based on judge scores, coordinator indulgence, and whether you said you might be attending AX. In addition, the coordinators will highlight four pre-show entries for honorable mention.


To those who did not make the finals, you have our deepest thanks for your participation, and please know that this year was brutal. Out of over 270 submissions (main and bonus combined), we obviously can only play a small fraction, but we hope to see your work again next year. As for this year, you can look forward to one hell of a show, and we hope to see you there!

To our finalists, know that it’s anybody’s game this year. We’ve got excellent vids that received critical acclaim at other events, but also fresh and creative entries from new talent. Epicness is guaranteed, and we have you to thank for it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, and good luck.
