Hi All,
I happy to announce the opening for submission of Animethon 21's AMV contest. Animethon is the longest running Anime Festival in Canada and this will be the 12th year of it's AMV contest! Thanks to our talented team of artists, I even got my own cute AMV contest header featuring chibi version of our mascots! Actually, you'll also be able to find them on our cool glass trophy awards too!
Last year we got over 100 entries making it one of the largest AMV Contest in Canada, so we hope to continue that tradition. As always, we will ship prizes anywhere the postal service will deliver them to so to accommodate all domestic and international entries (so please, send them in no matter where you live).
Rules and submission information can be found HERE
Makre sure to read through all the rules and provide all the information on the online form when submitting.
Deadline is set for Jun 20, 2014 so you got plenty of time!
look forward to seeing everyone's fantatic entires

Re: Animethon 21 AMV Contest - Open for Submissions
well i shall attempt this contest with the one Anime video i submitted to otafest.. but being it got completely shut out there, i really don't have any hopes for it here either, but will be down at animethon again this year so hoping can at least make the finals, might work on something else as well, butafter getting shut out 3 years in a row.. it really puts a damper on wanting to bother editing anything anymore

Obviously your editing for the wrong reasons...ranmaman wrote:well i shall attempt this contest with the one Anime video i submitted to otafest.. but being it got completely shut out there, i really don't have any hopes for it here either, but will be down at animethon again this year so hoping can at least make the finals, might work on something else as well, butafter getting shut out 3 years in a row.. it really puts a damper on wanting to bother editing anything anymore

Re: Animethon 21 AMV Contest - Open for Submissions
well i don't edit for the sole reason of submitting to the contest... the reason i even submit to the contests .. is not to win.. or really even the chance to win..... not making the finals hurts my own self esteem only cause i know how well the contests are attended and i like to attend to contests in order to see how people might enjoy my videos.... i know the last 2 years you guys have added the "play all entries" on the Sunday ... but the main unfortunate thing about that (to me) is that it's poorly attended (in comparison to the actual contest) and that there are very little to no "Audience Reactions" which is what i like to see.... i know in these couple posts i must sound like a complete douchbag ass... and i don't really mean to sound that way.. but i guess it is mainly disappointment and frustration in myself that my videos just aren't good enough to make the finals anymore... I hope i can make something good enough to possible make the finals this year and look forward to attending the contest this year as well!

Re: Animethon 21 AMV Contest - Open for Submissions
I understand completely... Just don't beat yourself up over not making finals. You have to understand AMV contests are open to everyone in general and even some of the big names don't necessarily make the cut. It's tough, but as a Coordinator I have to ensure the each video is judged as fairly as possible regardless of who makes it
BTW< I will be away for the next few weeks, so if you submit, it may be 3 weeks or so before I confirm it, but I will send out confirmations when I get back
Thanks,
Vlad

Yes,, Manga AMVs are fine so long as there is some motion of some kind (i.e. not just a slide show)
