Questions about Avatar Music Video presentation

Postby iball » Thu Mar 27, 2014 8:35 am

So I am currently making a Red Line Avatar Music Video and super excited about it. My question is about how I would present it as I have never done an Avatar Music Video where I would want to turn it in to say a convention's contest. I was planning on doing it in 720p as I have both the 1080 and 720 versions. But when I go to Cons I believe they're mostly done on projectors so would there even be a benefit to doing in 720p? Also what file format should I put the Avatar Music Video in, a mkv, mp4, avi etc?

You can check here:

Normally the contest coordinators let you know the format you should use. Mp4 is preferred, although in some cons, you're asked to encode the video as mpeg2. In recent cons, 720p is allowed, in others the 480p way is still practiced, so it basically depends of the contest.

There's no general answer to your question; each con has their own specifications for how they accept video -- video quality and audio quality specs are all determined on a con-by-con basis. If you have a specific con in mind, I would suggest looking on their website to find out how to submit and in what format.

That said, these days there aren't many (if any) cons that wouldn't accept 720p or 1080p videos, so I would send in the highest quality you can. Generally they're more concerned with making sure the quality is good enough; cons sometimes won't accept anything that's too low-res, stuff that has subtitles, etc. Doesn't sound like that'll be a problem for you, though.
