tan(x)

Sorry for this video.

The idea was born while listening to this Song on a trip all over Bolivia when I managed to capture my brother's PSP. The concept came from my admiration of the masturbation-scene of the old Evangelion movie met with me trying to paraphrase the song.
Again this one uses motion-interpolation for a lot of things, including 60 fps output. The video is only optimized for 60fps, so I recommend to watch that version.

If you're confused about the video's title, I used it for a lot of cool parallel properties to the video. Besides the obvious relation of "Tangent" - "Touch", the gradient of tan(x) is always positive, but the function is still periodic and doesn't change it's value averaged over one period at all. Also, I don't exactly hate maths ;)

And here is the video without effects on YouTube, and on Mediafire.

I too believe it's one of the best moments in anime history. Not because it's shocking, but because it's... realistic. Anyway.

The vid is pure awesomeness. Many hated it, and most of the viewers thought it was worse than Into the Labirynth, but hey - it's awesome. The colours, the minimal effects, all this motion, the tense... and finally, when it all makes sense, you feel complete. Awesome.

My impression of this video is this: FOREVER ALOOONE.
I won't speak much of the technical aspects of the video. I liked the motion interpolation, although some bits of the video came out really strange and slightly disturbing. IMO, I thought it was unnecessary in some parts like 2:38-2:50. I liked the overall atmosphere of the video. The video flows pretty nicely despite some annoying minor overlay usages. I do think you brought out what you wanted in the video, which makes it excellent.
Overall, the video was really enjoyable and worth re-watching. I get surprised at how 5 and a half minutes pass every time I watch it. I don't understand why it received some extremely negative feedback though.

I've probably made this clear over at AKROSS, but I'll just say it again. This video is an amazing creation, and you have proved that you are more than just an effects dude. Everything about this is wonderfully executed, and it's very interesting to hear that it was based around the scene from Eva, as that's such an important moment in the video.

On a side note, the scenes from Hyouka in the video are eye meltingly gorgeous :D

LOL That explains the scene 4:42 xD

Personally I really liked the video, is unique in its own way (as "Into the Labyrinth").
The technical level was incredibly good. Use of twixor was amazing. :awesome:
The colors, effects, scenes, everything in this video is incredible. It's definitely one of my favorites on AkrossCon2013!
Great job and good luck lolligerjoj

Well comparing this one with Into the Laberynth is useless. I guess it's the prize to become famous suddenly

ABout this one: I see the spirit of the Psychedelic genre here. Not like a kind of Chaos, but instead into an abstract concept and an ordered one. Since this formula can work for this genre, I consider the video already a success. Now the default 'Sentimental genre idea' makes some people get mad with this clip and start complaining about why the Twixtor doesnt work here due the genre etc.

You're advancing fast buddy. Asides with Gorz, my two selections for the Rookie of the year

I personally was not a fan of the crossfades here and there, and some of the distortion Fx as well, but hey that's just me being a noob haha. Still, again you have created that amazing atmosphere with your super slow motion clips, and that was cool :)
Not sure if this matters, but i'm so happy that I am educated enough to understand the poster xD

Started watching this just for the title and daaamn, I was not dissappointed.

It has a really unique feel to it and a well thought out concept which was really well executed. The main issue I had with "Into the Labyrinth" (which is the only other AMV of yours I've seen, not sure if you've even made more lol) is that the scenes seemed to be rather random. This is not the case here, everything fits well with the, very unique, song. Good luck in the competition, definitely looking forward to see more of your work. :)

Mhm. This was rather well edited, but i cant enjoy this video, feels like it lacks some mood or something for me. Effects vere stylish but most of them felt unnecessary which might be one of things that killed mood after interesing intro :P. Oh well

Overall, I did enjoy this amv, but I think some of your effects was not needed like the tearing effect. The motion interpolation does look amazing but I think you need to find a way to clean or repair the warped frames. It is noticeable and distracting :P Keep it up man!

Agreed about the warped frames, but we all know 60fps is never perfect. Not meant to be, but there's still a way to make them not so noticeable without adding distortion effects. You know what I think about it man, great job, cool concept, love the effects, love the motion. Sad that people might not understand the concept, but there's a lot of serious people out there. :p
Good job and good luck! Top 5 for sure!

Frankly speaking, I like this one more than the Labyrinth, particularly because this is more "complete" in what you wanted to say. The previous work was a kind of fun for the eyes, but nothing more for me. This time I really enjoyed the mixture of this abstract philisophical idea and those effects you used to make the whole thing more appealing. Again, I think you should've limited the time, since at one point even the most creative thing can become boring because of the repetitiveness of it's content.
In general, I think this is an evolution of your editing style and ideas you use in vids. Keep going and good luck on the con ;)
