Should've stepped it up a notch and call it G4 :awesome:

That would be more fine,of course. :awesome:

Thanks cecco! and lol don't laugh, my struggle was real ):

If you put that effort(time) in your next projects, that would be fine. :P
And i mean about vertical transitions: 0:55,0:59 ect.
Keep it up funny.

I don't support this kind of videos and I never wi...OH WAIT!
No, this is well done, it's an exception and different from most
of the stuff around here, not for the concept but technically better
than the others, the style is so cool and fits 100% with the music!
Atmosphere also makes me like it even if the music is not my cup of tea.
And I like it a lot, so re-viewable !

I really enjoyed it :)

And if you ever need a extra beta tester i would love to help with any future vids :) (I actually quite enjoy beta testing)

Thanks very much! And I appreciate the offer (:

This could've been great.

Definitely no purpose to watching any further if you don't like "videoclips of the songs."

andrewbee wrote:This was a really nice video and message. You spared no Hugs and Kisses in this one.

Technically, you had some really good transitions with the lens burn effects. There was a particular section I really disliked, the way you incorporated the anime clip into the real footage at 00:47-00:49. What you get is 2 interesting clips struggling for the attention. I would have used a generic georgeous scenery going in and out of focus in place of the real footage.

01:59 - 02:04 - The lyric is really powerful - "you're my backbone, you're my cornerstone", but the scene selection is weak. Could do with something much stronger from 'Kids On the Slope'

Overall, great uplifting video, well done.

I agree on :47. I really wanted to integrate the anime and music video more because it felt too easy it being such simple cuts, so I kind of just went with it, but it's too out of my comfort zone for me to tell if it's ok or not.
1:59 was one of the sections inspired by the original mv which focused on friends. A more dynamic clip could have been used, but I really wanted to slow things down at that point and the clip worked for me.
Thank you!!

AimoAio wrote:Oh I've had an idea for this song planned for a while! XD Just waiting on the source to be released, anyway the point is your mood matches exactly what I envisioned for this song. Soft, positive, hopeful with a tinge of sadness fits with this song/video combination perfectly and I really liked the integration of the music video (though some might argue this ruins the AMV) because the original MV had a very warm colour palette that matches nicely with the mood of the song. Your idea to use burn overlays also helped blend the two together pretty well. I do think at times it was a bit strong (a bit too orange and bright) and some scenes I didn't quite agree with (just didn't fit as well as others) but those are minor issues.

Overall really nice! I've always loved your editing style because your cuts are so perfect, they're so smooth and just kinda...meld the video together. I don't really know how to describe it other than the fact it makes the video really nice to watch. It's easy on the eyes? xD It's like our eyes are being swept along in some sort of flow/direction without too much strain/effort. The jist is, it's nice. XD Keep up the good work!

Looking forward to your video with the song, except you're probably going to upstage me! ):
And thanks so much! I feel like we're on the same wavelength a lot of time with such stuff haha. Appreciate it (:

lloyd9988 wrote:Pretty much sums up most of my thoughts on it. One thing that I didn't really like was just the flow of the feeling (This sounds really gay in my head), but I guess its like... I couldn't feel the flow of feeling the scenes matching the feeling of the song at certain times where its happy, sad or like indifferent (I dunno). I guess the best way to describe it is like I saw the happy scenes with happy scenes and sad scenes with sad scenes but like... no transition going from happy scenes to sad scenes or something like that... Which is just a personal opinion on my part but its whatever :P

Spoiler :
I know you like to edit your own thing without so much care put into like what other people will think about it so I know like my opinion ain't gonna mean much but I like giving a little critique here and there :3

Other than that, I really love your AMV. Very nice effects, good flow and spot on feeling. :shark:

Hmm I kinda see what you mean, but not really. I see any "transitions" between the happy and sad as being any changes in the song, because that's what I followed. But it's not so much happy vs sad in this video, I was kind of going for happy/romance more than sad (I don't think scenes of people crying necessarily being sad unless paired with a dramatic lyric/emotional song in which it's quite clear it's meant to be sad, whereas in my video it's just meant to represent the dynamics of relationships with all those emotions and such.) Hopefully this explains what I was going for better? I tend to explain/edit things in an untoward way sometimes.
No I definitely like hearing different people's interpretations and opinions on things (: I don't really take anything to heart or too seriously since the way I see it is I'm done with the video, but I love to see what would be viewed as "crit" since that's how people interpret my vids. So thanks Brad! (:

slimed wrote:i really enjoyed this video, and it's probably my favorite video that i can think of integrating music video clips. there were a few scenes or so that felt oddly placed (eg 1:34,), but the scene (& anime) selection overall was really on point and made this for me. on a first watch some of the music video scenes seemed a bit dragged out but after reading the description and understanding what you were going for i was able to get into it and i think the a/mv balance was nicely executed; it also took a second watch to get into the song (and aww phillip phillips is so cute). videos with this kind of mood and atmosphere make me want to open up a vegas timeline and start editing. nice job

Thank you so much! (: And glad to hear that!

:59 was part of the anime, I did :55 (I think that's more noticeable if you look back at it now since all my "vertical" transitions were meant to mimick :59.) I'm still too fresh out of the editing stage to know if I like it or not, but I like the idea of a different transition, and it also follows the mv, so I'll have to disagree, but thanks!
And lol I'll try

In general I liked it. In some points it remembered me Champagne Supernova by Domius. Moreover, you did a good job with the overlays effect, and I think that they fit very well with this kind of video.

Well actually I don't like that much this kind of video. So it wasn't very interesting for me, nonetheless you did a fine job in the editing. I also liked the overlays (not all of them, but in general they were well placed) and some scenes you used that I've never seen before. I didn't like those transitions like tv simulator + blur. In general a nice work

Very nice hug it out vibe. Sometimes it felt like the live action lingered too long or could've been mixed in a bit better but overall good stuff.

Also, I almost had to shank you for your outro credits lol That's MY SONG. Of course I prefer a different mix but still lol

I love this AMV. The most thing I love is how it's like an actual music video on TV with the artist plus scenes that tell a story. Great stuff!

Rather briliant use of the lighting effects to help blend the anime in with the live action. I thought it was done very well. I think I would have liked it better though if you had followed more of a centric story with just 2 characters and have the live singer as more of a story teller (singing about the couple), would've gave it more purpose to use the live action in it in IMO. The multiple anime selections kinda detract it from being a really nice story telling video, which is a shame since this song has so much emotion and touching words in it that could've been exploited in such a video. Still nice editing, and enjoyed watching it!

Mhm, at first watch orginal music video felt like standing out way too much from rest , with another attempts to watch it, it got more seamless and fitting i guess.

Anyway vid was well edited, but it feels a tad too linear similary to music. Yep cant really enjoy it because of music , too bland for me . Also maybe its just me but lighting effects did help blend it wit song vid , yet at same time they didnt blend in all that great with anime sometimes coloring felt a bit too random or out of place. Im not really sure how to make sense out of what i have in mind, sorry if it sounds too critic :P. Also that scratches effect thing, meh. Still anime did mash quite well together, so i guess its quite interesing attempt here.

Nice job. Calling this an "animeMUSICVIDEO" is spot-on, and if throwing some anime and overlays into the original music video to convey your mood is what you were going for, then success.
As an emotional video, it's not as powerful as it might've been. More camera dynamics (you had a steady shake, but most scenes were kinda static) would've made it more active, as would quicker cuts. Choppier scenes like the Chihafayuru one at 2:45 packed more of a punch, but for the most part you slowed the pace by syncing longer scenes to the syllables. The flares also detract from the drama, since they distract the viewer with something pretty and in some cases (like in the introduction, with Okazaki and little-Nagisa hugging in the field after the original music video appears for the first time) compete with the anime for attention. Might just be me, but the flares seem to say "nothing matters anyway because everything's sparkly in the end," by blinding the viewer to the drama. The original music video, too, makes it less powerful because the guy doesn't do anything but play and look half-amused, and though I didn't count I wouldn't be surprised if he took up half the length of the AMV. What's his relationship to the anime characters, and how do the characters relate to each other or to the song in the first place?
But those questions are irrelevant if mood was the key in editing this video. In the end it leaves a viewer soothed and happier, without going through the BS of asking a viewer to imagine what it'd be like if Phillip interacted with the characters. 0:46-0:50 and 1:40-1:48 were my favorite parts. And I'm not biased, but 2:50-2:52 was nice. Those sequences, I think, show what it's all about.
As for technicalities,
There was potential for very awkward cuts between the original music video and the anime, but you switched between them appropriately. Don't know if you followed the original editing, but it worked.
0:35-0:37 felt cluttered. There were a flew slow frames where the animation wasn't as smooth as it should've been to get that quicker pace. I didn't like the film-y effect much, honestly not sure if you just threw it in there for the laels. The film strip/borders around the last Clannad scene I thought could go, since it wasn't there in the introduction. Nice visual quality, looked very clean.

This is a video to watch when it's cold outside. Nice timing.
