Tom and Nicholas - you have been noted, you have dibs.
Sorry about that all, I havent posted in the last 3 days because my host family lent to computer to a friend. Ok, about IVTC, you cant really effectively export from 30 frame source to 24 output anyway, so I think thats going to be something that YOU are taking care of. At least, thats what I think. Anywho, how many of you have already started?

I just moved yesterday, so now I'm in a house with no connection for my computer...I can't start until I get a cable modem for the house (soon!), and a new DVD drive for my comp (also soon!). But then I'm ready to rock.

AD suggested to me to just de-interlace and change the framerate to 24fps, so that's what I'm just going to do. It's harder to do IVTC in Linux, since Cinelerra's IVTC filter is shitty, and trythil is trying to port Telecide, but I don't know how he's doing with that.

Nick just make sure you deinterlace and go to 24fps before you edit and then convert the audio anyway. The final product is gonna be 23.976fps, we're just requesting submission at 24fps to save you guys a step. In other words all audio will have to be converted reguardless of how you're getting to 24fps.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know.

If I wasn't so pressed for space, I'd just IVTC and change framerate to 24fps in Windows, but since IVTC is basically the same as de-interlace (Well, except IVTC recovers the progressive frames and de-interlace doesn't, :P)

You know that if you use AVIsynth you can do IVTC without using ANY ectra space right?

Yeah, I know, but I have no free HD space right now, and I'm going to be editing in Linux anyways, and there's no AVISynth for Linux. :P

Trythil and I are the only two insane enough to do video editing in Linux. ;)

Both deinterlacing and IVTC produce progressive output. The difference is how they do it.

Random question to Ashton, RadicalEd0: Can you guys accept MPEG-2? I was messing around with libmpeg3, and it turns out that it produces some Very Nice output with filesizes that Aren't That Big.

Note: I didn't brainwash Nick. It was entirely his own decision.
