I hate having a plan and getting nothing done.
We had five things to do today: close my bank account, cash our check, pay rent, pick up power inverter, pick up new phone. We did none of these things. Admittedly, the first thing went better than planned. My account was converted to a complimentary account, thereby subverting the reason I was canceling it: monthly fees during my joblessness.
The second part of the plan is where it all started to fuck up. We went to cash the check my fiancée's parents had written her to cover the rent; they pay $600 of it. The bank teller wouldn't cash it.
Teller: "There's a hold on the account. They both need to sign the check."
Fiancée: "No there isn't. We cleared this up last month when you said the same thing."
Teller: "Do you know if they're home? I'm calling them."
Fiancée: "What's the number you have?"
Teller: "I can't give out that information."
Fiancée: "Is it [father's number] or [step-mother's number]?"
Teller: "No."
Fiancée: "Then they're not going to answer because you're not calling them."
Anyway, we called her step-mother to tell her about the hold, and she of course responded with, "there is not". She offered for us to come over to sign the check so we could cash it. We declined and had to put it off until tomorrow. It was 2:30, meaning by the time we had the check signed, cashed, and rent paid, it would be at least 3:30, 4:00. The phone I was buying was in Clearwater- we're in Tampa- and the traffic coming back across the bay at quitting time is atrocious at best.
So, onward to Clearwater. To preface this part, I made sure to call the store this morning to make sure they had the phone I was looking for. They confirmed that they had two. When I arrived, however, they had none. The representative I talked to had quoted me the wrong phone- I'm looking for the Motorola Photon Q; he had quoted the Motorola Photon 4G- and they didn't have the one I needed. Fucking wasted trip. (Well, to be honest, my fiancée did find a game there she's been looking for forever: The Bard's Tale [2004].)
The guy I was getting the power inverter from wasn't going to be home until 5:30, so we waited at my sister's place until we could go meet him. He texted at 5:45 that he had arrived at home, but his wife had sold it during the day. Fucking hooray.
Not one thing fucking accomplished. We just stayed at my sister's place and had some vegan burgers for dinner.
