How you got into AMVs:
God told me to.

How you came up with your screen name:
Its a secret only for close friends.

How you discovered the Org:
People were talking about that international amv site and how shitty it is. Since I have my own opinion I came here to investigate and confirm that its shitty. (jk, its okay.... maybe)

Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... (If you're not in a studio, say why :P):
Studios are overrated.

Favorite genre to edit and why:
Depends on how good M/V is.

Favorite newbie mistake you've made:
Being too perfect.

First contest experience:
Levelup 2008

Best Experience you've had thus far with the community:
All amvnews.ru community. Amazing people.

Worst experience with the community:
Some inadequate anime geeks from org chat (Im not gonna call the names of these twats)

Why you edit:
Im not editing anymore because I've got way bigger experience and knowledge in more complicated craft.

Future goals:
Become the Pirate King. (by downloading everything)
I love my women like I love my AMV - furious low skilled action without any sync and technique.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will suppress the detest.. and ignore the faith.
Curb the repulsion, and the depression.. and the dread and the hate.
I will get back up on the stage.. because I love you all
I'll keep pouring my heart out.. Cause This Is- Fucking- Rock N Roll!

Meh, I'm new, so I'll use this as an opportunity to introduce myself more.

How you got into AMVs: I had a few video files lying around, and decided to put them to music out of boredom.
How you came up with your screen name: It came to me back in 7th grade, and it's a long story, but I use it for everything now.
How you discovered the Org: Google, duh.
Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... Still too new to AMVs to be in a studio ;_;
Favorite genre to edit and why: Serious/dramatic anime is my favorite, because I like serious/dramatic music :P
Favorite newbie mistake you've made: I just recently started using HD video for editing, so all my previous work looked like garbage (and probably was anyway).
Why you edit: For fun. It's a good way to pass time as well as a good creative outlet.
Future goals: I enjoy writing and musicianship, so I'm hoping to pursue either or both in the future... Not sure exactly how that will pan out, but I'll wait and see.

And I just realize as I finish typing how uninteresting I am

That's the reason why I left that chat. I didn't know it turned female chat :nono:

Yeah, I had a problem with that too, so I had to tone it down. |:>

How you got into AMVs: It was back in 2007, while i was browsing on a german video streamsite called myvideo.de i saw the first amv i have ever seen and i was like, this looks awesome let me try mysekf. than i searched for some programms and strated editing. i loved it and still do it today.

How you came up with your screen name: i came with the idea for The-Nightmaster wen i heard through my music and my favorite band was Nightwish at that time and Wishmaster was my Favorite song so i combine these 2 and it ended up in Nightmaster.

How you discovered the Org: it was while i whatched Hit the Floor from Hwoarang on youtube there was a like to Org and while i was watching other stuff i saw Org coming almost every time i whatched a good AMV so i logged me in.

Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... (If you're not in a studio, say why :P): i'm in the 3 Sword Style Production at the time, i'm a member sins 2008 and it was through a help of a fried of mine who was already in it. me and the other guy/girls stayed frieds for some time but the team got separated from time to time.

Favorite genre to edit and why: my gavorite genre is Action, i know it's a little bit that genre that almost every one does and it's easy to do. the funny thing is i do it more in a fun way of action because i once tried make a Pokemon video that in the end was pretty short like 40 sec i believe. with soundeffects and overdramatics and it ended up so awesome my Production leader forced me to uploaded it.

Favorite newbie mistake you've made: (Give us a good cringe-worthy one!): i Used to to scennes to fast and with random effects sometimes. i'm still not that good ad it as i should be.

First contest experience: in Germany we were making Production contests sometimes and it was a kind of 1vs1 and i made a AMV for that contest and had an autowin because my apponent didn't make something in time so yeah. I would have loved to do an other contest, specialy on of the big ones.

Best experience you've had thus far with the community: wen i first came here i and postet something for a question i had for AMV planning because i had some problems make a whole AMV and a qhole bunch of poeple helped me out back than.

Worst experience with the community: i didn't had such a bad experience until now. Maybe because i wasn't so active until now.

Why you edit: (If you don't edit anymore, explain yo'self!): i Edit because it's fun and i can do bunch of stuff maybe somethings that no one else do.

Future goals: (Editing, non-editing, whatevers): My Future goal is to reach a mainpage on AMVnews.ru or be on the 3rd place on a great contest like akross or levelUp. and continiu besides everything else.

ps: sry for my bad english ;)

i'm bored and procrastinating studying for this ethics exam...

How you got into AMVs: in ~2006 i got into naruto and browsed the internet for videos, inevitably coming across amvs. then the wmm days on yt and at some point dermarx introduced me to sony vegas and i guess that's when i got "seriously" into amvs. although i've actually just started editing again recently with probably my first real effort towards improving at the hobby for whatever that's worth.
How you came up with your screen name: i like the word slime and added a d to the end. i've had other more known aliases in the past but i switch usernames often.
How you discovered the Org: while in the youtube editing community, i came across the phrase "the org" without knowing what it was referring to, and then was linked the website by another editor.
Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... (If you're not in a studio, say why :P): i've only been in one which was raNout productions, which exsphere invited me to join years back on the tube which eventually disappeared. otherwise i guess i've never really been active enough of an editor to see a purpose in it. that might change though???
Favorite genre to edit and why: probably drama, or combination of action & drama.
Favorite newbie mistake you've made (Give us a good cringe-worthy one!): i don't think i could narrow it down to a particular mistake, but i guess up until after my last hiatus (like a month ago) i didn't put as much thought into scene selection as i should. i also had an issue of clinging to old editing "rules" that were laid down years back which hardly apply anymore.
Best experience you've had thus far with the community: making friends with editors.
Worst experience with the community: when i first began posting here (being 13 years old and on the org doesn't require much explanation).
Why you edit (If you don't edit anymore, explain yo'self!): i like anime, and i like music, and i like creative mediums, and i've come to like video editing, so why not. when i started i also had a lot of time to kill although that's not as much the case anymore.
Future goals (Editing, non-editing, whatevers): i mostly focus on current/short term goals but as for long term: editing - to actually edit and keep active at it. non-editing - graduate university, move to somewhere with people (a studio apartment in brooklyn would be ideal), land a nice job, and fund my wardrobe (lol).

How you got into AMVs: Sometime in 2007 I looked up "Naruto video" on YouTube and saw Rubix89's "Different Paths" video. This was back when Rubix was really popular and I thought his videos were the best thing ever. Afterwards, I discovered "Whisper of the Beast," which I went crazy for, and since I'd recently tried video editing when I put together an RC car video for my older brother I decided to try my hand at AMVs.
How you came up with your screen name: By being dumb. I had no clue what username I wanted, so I picked a random one from the Runescape merchanting forums I frequented. I'd have changed my name to "Viezzo" awhile ago if I hadn't already registered with my current name on Akross.
How you discovered the Org: Watch out, this one's original! I Googled "Whisper of the Beast" and the .org was the first link.
Tell me about your studio, like how you joined/created it, etc... Never been in one. I had to decline offers because my schedule, like my editing style, is unpredictable. I don't have the time or leniency with my editing to consistently devote myself to a group.
Favorite genre to edit and why: I don't have a favorite. I like story videos best, and I try to tell an original story with each of my videos unless one's concept doesn't lend itself to one (such as trailers or my latest half-parody of the random action genre). I'm impartial to whether I'm editing srsbusiness, comedy, or drama - each one's satisfying in its own way.
Favorite newbie mistake you've made:
Image
I thought I did this pretty darn well at the time, but now I almost chuckle when I look back on my first attempt at motion graphics. The amount I learned from this video was enormous, regardless of how silly the animation turned out, and the criticism I got for it really helped me grow as an editor.
First contest experience: I attended Florida SuperCon in 2012 and met TheFrostySquirrel, who won the first AMV showing/contest I'd gone to watch. I befriended her and we sort of joked around about which one of us would win the following year, and when I went with a couple of friends the next time I made her bite the dust by getting 1st with my "Eyes" video. I didn't have much time to meet many other editors because we were rushed out of the room.
The picture above is from a video I submitted to Akross Con 2009, which I guess technically counts as my first contest. As a Finalist that year, I discovered lots of supa-cool editors and had the whole hectic Akross experience.
Best experience you've had thus far with the community: Laughing at it (or with it, I often can't tell) whenever one of those kickass or OtakuGray fiascos came up. Otherwise, I don't really have many "experiences" at all with this community as I'm not too active in it.
Worst experience with the community: Don't have one. Maybe the lack of experiences counts.
Why you edit: Because I like to make things. Creating music or filming/animating video is fun in itself (and doing that has taken a lot away from my activity as an AMV editor), but I've been editing AMVs long enough for it to become one of those hobbies I can dedicate some time to whenever that time's available. I'll also sometimes listen to a song and think "wow, that'd go along perfectly with x anime" and start to develop some kind of storyboard or concept in my head. I've devoted hundreds of hours at a time to taking one of the concepts I envision and making it something I can actually see and experience. Even if I'm no longer willing to spend so much time on an AMV (other live-action or original animation, sure), I still edit for the satisfaction of spinning together the perfect combination that would otherwise only exist in my imagination. The same reason, I suppose, I watch AMVs to begin with.
Future goals: Release a few more AMVs, then figure out what the heck I'm going to do. Study something through which I can innovate more monumental things than a couple of videos.

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

How you got into AMVs: Being a long time anime and manga reader, as well as a very adamant audiophile I thought it only natural to start making my own AMVs.
How you came up with your screen name: Kathonic is just an alliteration of Cthonic which means subterranean or under earth (it's from the greek I believe)
How you discovered the Org: I sought it out as a resource and a place to learn.
Favorite genre to edit and why: Drama, because it is my favorite style of anime alongside slice-of-life, and has the greatest emotional depth.
Why you edit: Because I love anime and music, I want to express myself creatively using combinations of both :book:
Future goals: Take bigger projects and hopefully become part of a team :ying:
