Anime Los Angeles 2014 AMV Contest

Post by MikalSaltveit » Mon Sep 23, 2013 1:03 am

Its that time of year again folks, time for the Anime Los Angeles Anime Music Video Contest.

From the official site: http://www.animelosangeles.org/ala/2013 ... test-2014/
The AMV (Anime Music Video) contest takes place on Friday. Anime Music Videos consist of clips from one or more anime series or movies set to songs. They are made by fans because they have a passion for an anime/song combination that drives them to show that vision to audiences.

All of our contestants are fans just like you who have worked hard all year to create the videos we will be showing off Friday evening. There are many
awards that can be won.

Audience Categories:
◦Crowd Pleaser
◦Best in Category (Four awards: Action, Drama, Comedy, Pro)

Judging Categories: (Voted on by our panel of Judges)
◦Best Produced
◦Judges’ Favorite

Additional Awards:
◦Creators Choice (Voted on by the contestants)
◦Staff Picks (AMV Staff pick their favorite entrie(s) )

Our Judges are:
Ed Hooper
Victoria Shapero
Lauren Cook
TBD
Mystery Judge (Every year we fill our fifth spot with a mystery person!)

Hope to see you there!

Grave of the Fireflies is "appropriate for a television viewing audience," right? I'm pretty sure I've seen more violent stuff at this contest before, but just making sure.

I have some good news to report: The contest has been moved back to Friday Night!

Everyone who got it in under the November 1 deadline WILL get into the contest, barring disqualification for video content. I have extended the official deadline to December 1st since we could use a few more videos. We currently have 8 Submitters and we like to have at least 15 for the contest. The number of submitters who can make it in November vs December fluctuates from year to year. Some years we get 50 videos in November and that it, other years we wait till mid-December to finish. If anyone has any ideas on a good way to word this, formally, I am open to suggestion on this topic. I want to have the best contest, but I also need time to prep everything before the contest and, even if I wanted to, I can't do it over Christmas break ( Dec 21st - Jan 3rd ). Its just not enough time to iron out all the kinks.

We will continue to accept video submissions throughout December, but priority always goes to videos who meet earlier deadlines. What this means is that if a REALLY GOOD FANTASTIC AWESOME video comes in on December 31st; if the category it fits into is full it will not be in the contest.

Please look to the main post for updates on received videos.

p.s. Please try to send videos at 720p+ quality.
p.s.s. There is no "pro" category until other categories fill up and push best videos out. Do not list your video under the "pro" category.

I looking at the group on your first post, I didn't see myself included. Do I resent the info back again?
