Your Editing Feels
This is a thread for just various feelings when it comes to the editing process, watching other peoples AMV's, the community in general or anything else associated with AMV's as a whole. Feel feel to share your own and have some conversation going on about it.

- One of the first feelings that I often find when editing is when I begin a large project over, say, a minute. Generally feels like an enormous mountain I gotta climb and it feels like I'll never get there. But, if the muse is strong enough, sometimes it feels awesome conquering it and actually completing the project. Learned that with my Dangan Massacre Project.

- Another thing I hate is that even if the concept is pretty good, the atmosphere of the video is good and everything else checks out; some people just default the video altogether because they didn't like the song. I can understand not entirely digging the video because it isn't your type of music, but even I can still give props if the person seemed to have a good idea of direction with their AMV.

- Rendering times are a buzz kill. In my case, I often use a mixture of After Effects/Sony Vegas in order to merge the effects from there into the video. Along with that, with the lag I get, I sometimes just render different scenes to make sure it has the timing I have and sometimes I feel like bashing my head into a wall waiting.

- I love announcing to the people who follow my videos/projects that I'm starting on a new AMV. This is because I like getting people hyped, I feel bold when making these announcements and it helps me try to keep my word since I told dozens/hundreds of people what I'm going to do and I better live up to my word and crank out something dope. (Such as the case with Shingeki No Squarepants I put on youtube. I need to work on the second one after this post.)

- The best feeling in the world is when, after everything is said and done, you get a positive feedback from whatever community (Org/Youtube/Forum whatever) and they like the amount of blood, sweat and tears you poured into your video. Not to mention that feeling of glee, anticipation and joy when putting your finalized video up on to the Org/Youtube and waiting for those views to crank in. Even if just one person liked my video, I'll feel pretty happy that I managed to make someone's day with my content.

There are more, but that's all I feel like writing for now since I'm working on a bunch of projects at the moment. I'm curious to see everyone else's and see if we can get some interesting discussion going on in here.

Oy vey.

I discovered another feel just now. I'm trying to decide what song I'm going to use for Akross-Con at the moment, and it's a daunting task since I want to ensure I choose something I can see myself editing to for the long-term for this contest. I gotta make sure it has a high impact on people and it's one that I can craft some good flow to along with something not heavily used to satisfy my own desires for this.

Seeing how I've admired Akross-Con for sometime, and I feel that my skills have increased enough to be a contender once I get serious, I gotta make sure I deliver in this. Been trying to get myself in a state of constant editing since mid-september after I came off my hiatus from video editing and I feel my sense of skills coming back steadily.

Another similar feel I discovered is trying to decide on the source, along with coming up with a concept for the video and possibly some sort of storyline or if I'll follow the anime. I might have to just go all out in that creative aspect.

Editing feels....

I think for now the editing is the thing most important in my life.. When i editing i feels so good... I can't explain that...

Now i'm are on one project very interesting.. I hope all come out as i want..

If we need talk about others moments bads and goods.

Goods: of course the first is when you get feedbacks so goods.. Make you so happy.. or also when you do one effects so complicated.. And.. I do it? Haha this so funny.. :')

well, also others things like: an one contest you place so well.. ect. ect.

Bads: Well.. Have some moments when you think: i can't do nothing and you become so bad... And others so angry: software crash, rendering slow that's moments.. I really hate...

Well,i think for more 10 years i want editing or more! I really like this!

I want write more but i don't know what.. I only feels good when i editing...

That's all.. (sorry for my bad english)

Yea, there is no one way you can describe editing feels. It can be good, bad or neutral for anyone confused about it.

As for me? I'm trying to make sure my next AMV is taking the constructive criticisms of my Maiden Dash video and the research I've done on the org/guides/AMV's/editors/transitions to make sure it flows alright. Learning how to take it much better than in my earlier AMV days, that's for sure. As I plan to take whatever I failed to do before and use it to make me a stronger, better and more resilient editor.

Yes, I love feedback as well. As a good chunk of my motivation is to make sure I make a video that people can enjoy, have fun with it and leave me some feedback showcasing the work that I put into it has paid off, yanno?
Bads: Well.. Have some moments when you think: i can't do nothing and you become so bad... And others so angry: software crash, rendering slow that's moments.. I really hate...
Yea, I had that moment for a few hours when trying to work on this Railgun S Fight AMV. However, I realized that I just need to take everything in strides, with a grain of salt and just keep improving and finding my balance between flow, effects, concepts, atmosphere and whatever my audience seems to enjoy along with something I'd have the pleasure of making. Which is why I went with making a fight AMV that is based like a Boss-Stage video game, filled with one of my favorite fight scenes in Railgun S and a song I can see myself editing to and tweaking my style.

Bleh, starting to feel semi-irritated a bit with my editing.

Main thing I find the problem with at the moment is that I'm trying to find a good balance between concept, effects, flow and atmosphere pieced together with a decent song. Starting to feel myself shift more towards comedy type vids as I liked receiving some the more success/positive feedback with them, especially with the Shingeki No Squarepants video that blew up. Made me feel good I could provide something that people genuinely enjoyed.

Where as some of my recent AMV's have just been hit or miss entirely. Even looking at some of my recent tumblr post I noticed some of my humor/comedy type posting get more solid foundation than some of my more serious stuff. Just kind of a demoralization at the moment and might just shift my direction in my videos soon enough as it's hard to keep making them without enough motivation. Gonna try to get better, but it's certainly inducing me to want to headdesk.

Congrats with the video, I'll check it out in a bit.

Feeling a bit better after taking a break for a few hours from some project. I think this quote sums it up.

"When we tell stories about creativity, we tend to leave out this phase. We neglect to mention those days when we wanted to quit, when we believed that our problem was impossible. Instead, we skip straight to the breakthrough. We tell the happy ending first.

The danger of this scenario is that the act of feeling frustrated is an essential part of the creative process. Before we can find the answer — before we can even know the question — we must be immersed in disappointment, convinced that a solution is beyond our reach. We need to have wrestled with the problem and lost. Because it’s only after we stop searching that an answer may arrive."

Now it feels frustrating because -As I spected anyway- there's not a
lot of people watching Sekai. Feels awful because I put a lot
of effort there.
