There was still some editing involved, not much but it's not a direct resynch.
Gimme a minute, I'll make a cool one....

Wasn't saying there isn't ANY editing...but it does change my opinion on the amount of effort put into it...

Confirms my suspicions.

The thing I find hilarious is that I was so afraid everyone would immediately know which video was mine because I did the same exact thing 2 years in a row. Judging from the comments, though, I apparently picked too obscure of a video to parody ( It only has a quarter of a million views on youtube across all the re-uploads of it ).
The thing about your parody is, you didn't pick a video that is viewed as unique. While Ileia was one of the first to use Radioactive for an AMV, there are so many that simply parodying it won't normally "click" in the viewer's mind and consequently will just appear as "just another Radioactive MV". The advantage you had last time was that shin was the only known creators to have used that song and it had clear effects that people remembered which you could use.
BasharOfTheAges wrote:For the sake of voting, though, could anyone point me to the basis for the other parodies? I got the fairly obvious Card Captors one and the trailer for Mama but the other two were lost on me.
I will agree that 9 isn't a parody at all...that said, people tend to brand anything that isn't a song as a parody unfortunatley. 17 was a simi-parody, but only by association with the audio source which is from a parody of low budget late night TV ads that try to sell you things (source video). While it's not as CLEAR CUT of a parody compared to some of the other entries, it would technically qualify. That said, it doesn't make it the best example of a parody in the contest.

for the nomination stage I voted very generally/broadly for parody... for all categories actually... I already knew which videos I'd be voting for in finals...

The other two, I kind of see as parodies of parodies.. but I didn't vote for either in finals >.>

What is the audio from 9 a parody of? I wasn't aware the audio was a parody of anything, as it seemed to me to just be an original sketch.

I haven't watched Bashar's video yet (on my phone atm), but it's not the song use that will make a parody recognizable, (You could make a parody using an entirely different song even >_>) it's styling the footage after the original. That's the advantage shin's video has in that respect. Mine is too simple.

I agree with the fact that the song doesn't make it a parody, but it helps if the audio is relatively unused because people will tend to associate it with one video. In my post I was simply pointing out a few reasons why people didn't make the connection, not pointing out that it WASN'T a parody.

.... which is what I'm adding to. :p

The "freshness" of a song can add to a parody's chance of being recognized, but, really, what designates something as a parody and not as just another video to the same song?
