A story in an AMV?

Is a story really that important to have in an amv? Isnt it enough to have like a moral or something, this is a bad example but to "be yourself" Im completely awful at making up stories but im a somewhat decent editor.

A story isn't necessarily a coherent sequence of events. A story can basically mean having a beginning, a middle and an end. I'll give you a few examples of my own.

tells a very definite story. You can practically write a script to it, which technically has already been done because I simply retold the story from the series itself.

on the other hand tells a very loose story. There is no script for this one. There is a beginning - character and setting introduction, middle - the conflict, and the end - resolution.

One more example I'll give you of telling a "story" that's even looser is . Wait, what? There's a story in that? When you break it down, sure. There's the beginning that introduces characters and style, the middle that changes things up a bit and brings to a climax, and the end that brings everything back down.


So to answer your original question, which i assume you're meaning my first example, no. AMVs don't have to have a coherent script to be entertaining or "good". Hope this helped! others may differ from my opinion tho

Not really. A video could be random but good at the same time without a story,l as it could be just good even when there's no real story. Unless you meant a concept instead

While story isn't really necessary, it is the easiest way to give the video purpose or meaning, thus giving the viewer a reason to watch the entire video. When making a video you have to keep in mind that after the first minute, the viewer really needs a reason to finish watching the video, and it's up to you too give it to them.

I was told that I needed more story telling in mine, so I did one that was all story (Space Cowboy). Someone commented negatively that I there weren't any refrains. *sigh*

I did this in a couple of hours yesterday, the editing isnt the best ever but its decent i guess, read description for the things i didnt like about it, but the point was to present some kind of story in it and i think...i think i managed to do it pretty decent for a first time on serious amv story making http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15MePhe3rWM
