So, about good media players...

Post by Hagaren Viper » Fri May 17, 2013 3:56 pm

Does anyone know of any? Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player both just abruptly stopped working, the former won't open whatsoever and the latter gets me an error. I have VCL, but I absolutely hate it :U

Or if someone could help me fix MPC. Yes, I know nobody likes it but gosh darn it it's still my favorite out of everything I've tried :U

What's the error?
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

And like I said, MPC doesn't actually open at all - it pops up in my processes tab for a few moments but then disappears.

I'm pretty sure both happened around the same time, and the only change I can think of around then would be installing the UT Video Codec, but I can't imagine that actually having an effect quite like this.

mpv. Or really just any mplayer variant (SMPlayer and UMPlayer are both options for GUIs).

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling your players/codec pack?

I'd give it a try. If MPC isn't working and you hate VLC I can't really think of many other viable options. Winamp?

So I tried playing a movie in VLC a minute ago and got this... I haven't had this problem before either so I'm wondering if I derped something up with my comp altogether.

It crashed and closed after that. I popped in a different disk and it seemed to work better, and the first disk seems to work fine on my PS3. So not sure if it means anything at all, but though I'd mention.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled MPC several times, different versions and all, but still get the same result. I've also tried this Fix it program that's supposed to fix WMP and it brings WMP back to working order until I restart my computer - then it goes back to the way it was before. As for codecs, I haven't looked into those yet.
