good luck to all the finalists.
I think you might be missing the point. With 85 entires, everyone can't make it in and those that have not does not mean by all means that those videos that did nto make the cut are bad. It usually means there were a lot of good vidoes, and as I now run the diecated AMV room, and moved the contest to Friday, all non-finalist get shown on Sunday. So your video will have an audience...

The other thing to look at is, do I edit just to make contest, or do I do this becasue it's a fun hobby and I enjoy it? Just a few things to consider.

I've had videos miss finalists at some conventions and win Best in Show at others, I don't think making finalists or even winning/losing is much a testament to how good a video is so I wouldn't let it get you down at all, a lot of factors goes into it including quality of competition, demographics of the judges and audience, and honestly a little bit of luck. Usually when something like this happens to me, I try to take that frustration and turn it on its head to motivate me to make something bigger and better instead of letting it get me down for too long.

On that note I derped and forgot to send something in at all.

Ah ha! You must get through me first. But I must warn you, I will not so easily be bested by the likes of your bumbling taquitos. Comprendes, Señor?
