ANN wrote:The action story is set in Edo-era Tokyo in the early 1700s. The eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune ordered boxes to be installed so commoners can submit their thoughts. After hearing their voices, the shogun creates a new magistrate unit — Mushibugyou — to protect the people in the heart of the city. Each member is a specialist with unique fighting skills.

Re: Mushibugyou
Looks like a walking shounen trope. I guess it could very much appeal to those fitting the target, at least.

What the hell Japan? They kind of bumped the target even tho the slot really is the one for generic Shounen (18 on TV Tokyo).
But then they did this kinda stuff... ( kinda NSFW link ).

I had sort of put this series on my backburner to check out later, it has now moved up on my list of prioritiesmirkosp wrote:What the hell Japan? They kind of bumped the target even tho the slot really is the one for generic Shounen (18 on TV Tokyo).

Re: Mushibugyou
So this is pretty much FFVII set in the Edo period and instead of Jenova it's giant bugs and Sephiroth grew a pair of giant antennae that gives him the power of weird fashion sense, Zach's louder and more blunt, Yuffie's more tsundere and passed her oujo-ness to Vincent who isn't emo creepy, but just plain creepy, Cloud's been turned into a shota and Cait Sith into his dolls I guess, Tifa and Aerith combined into one and works as a waitress instead of a bartender, Barret's turned into a drunken samurai, and Rufus is the head of the bug magistrate and disguised himself as the MC from Tatami Galaxy. I probably thought about this too much, but I couldn't get over the Sephiroth with huge antennae.
I probably would enjoy this more if the other characters interacted with each other more than with just the MC.

Yeah, I thought the premise was interesting originally, but it's been sorta stale. Dropping it :/

Re: Mushibugyou
Well it was soon obvious that it would be bad. I was just surprised by the amount of fanservice considering the original work and the slot, 's'all.
