BelleCON 2013
Jacksonville, Florida, May 10th-12th
Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk
Serving up anime and Japanese culture, both traditional and modern, with a heaping side of southern hospitality! BelleCON 2013 is a weekend of unique and exciting events, and our goal is to put a twist on all of the classic staples of anime conventions that we've all known for years. With our celebrity-judged AMV Contest, "You Light Up Our Con" category of the Costume Contest, Retro Pokemon TCG Tournament, FANtastic Art Contest, and so much more, we want to give people an experience unlike any other. Of competing isn't your thing, you can relax and enjoy any of our wonderful shows. Friday night, the theme of our formal Starlight Ball will be the wedding of Belldandy and Keiichi. Not only can you dance the night away and meet new people, but enjoy some cake and try to catch the garter or bouquet while you're at it. Saturday and Sunday, our centerpiece show, ANIME Fairytale Theater will tell you the classic Japanese fairytale of The Bamboo Cutter And Princess Kaguya, with a twist... All of the characters are from your favorite anime! Last but certainly not least, any time you want to wind down, just stroll into our Tea Room and make a reservation. Your Tea Room booking will include green tea served by waitresses and waiters in kimono, as well as a show, featuring Japanese song, dance, and theater.

While the anime community is our passion, we also want to find new ways to give back to the human community. Through the BelleCON Cares project, we're the proud hosts of a blood drive on Saturday. The Blood Alliance will be parking their bus right outside the hallway past Main Events. By taking just one hour out of your day, you can donate whole blood that can be separated into three life saving components; red blood cells, plasma, and platelets, and you can help to save three lives. Inside our Dealer's Room, we'll have a booth set up for our 1000 Cranes Of Hope project, to benefit Autism Speaks. For $1, you will be given a piece of paper and taught to fold an origami crane. Our goal is to fold one-thousand cranes and, in the process, raise one-thousand dollars for Autism Speaks. Last but certainly not least, our Charity Auction on Sunday will give you the opportunity to walk away with some amazing and unique anime collectables, and every penny raised will go to benefit Wounded Warrior Project. In 2010, WWP was able to lower their costs so that 83 cents of every dollar went to the organization's beneficiaries, and every year, they work hard to lower their overhead costs and make sure more money is put in the hands of those who need it.
