Anime News Network wrote:The story follows a hikikomori named Sasami who is unmotivated about even changing clothes or eating. Her brother takes care of her, even though she despises his slave-like nature. Sasami spends her days viewing the outside world via a Brother Surveillance Tool on her computer. In the outside world, the three beautiful Yagami sisters and Sasami's brother are in the middle of relationships worthy of a romantic comedy.

No, actually it gives way more sense than some other SHAFT'S stuff. Proof. (spoilers, ofc, breakdown of the episode's symbolism)

Nah, it's way too early to look into things. I'd say at least a few more episodes or even just wait for the whole thing to come out, then rewatch it. Right now it's speculating on drug-induced monstrusities which we can't really make sense of without huge guesswork, as we really have nothing to base more advanced reasoning on. I'll just take the awesome for what it is for the time being, it's clear there's something more, but I can't be bothered to look more into it right now.

"to look into things"
I'd say that the names of the sisters are a dead giveaway. Even people who just know some basic stuff about Japanese history noticed those.

But that's just scratching it. The article you linked tries to assume a lot of other things and admits by itself it's still early to know many things. I mean, it's episode 1. I wouldn't want the show to give out everything already.

Started watching ep 1, then immediately checked the credits. Yep, directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, so much good stuff from him, definitely going to watch this just because I love the series he directs (bakamonogatari + sequels, Madoka, dance in the vampire bund...wow I didn't know he did Nanoha as well.)
