If that's the case, you might as well just make it Sommer only. No one knows who the hell Tommy is.

BasharOfTheAges wrote:As to the location - Any resturants have function event space? I know the Italian place did, but I don't know how big it is and if that would work wrt needing staging and the like. There is something strangely appealing to the dinner and a show comedy club type atmosphere for this.

I like the idea of finding a restaurant with a banquet/party room. The change of venue for the dinner could also help facilitate mingling. Cheesecake Factory isn't exactly designed for easy conversation with people not sitting in one's immediate vicinity.

On the subject of who will be the next subject, I again agree with Bashar that the next honoree should not have been on stage this year. Koopiskeva would be a fine choice if we can lure him back down there. Same goes for MJ, Decoy, or Castor Troy. Maybe Zarxrax, since he's got the most recent Masters Jacket and the two-year IE streak at AWA running in addition to his history in the hobby. Whoever wins Editor of the Year in the upcoming VCAs would be another potential canditate.

Honestly though, I'm not too picky about who the next guest of honor will be as long as I get to be on the dais again. :ying:

Unrelated to previous srs post, can the unhip editors get some explanation about your hints now? Less than half of them make any sense at all to me.

I couldn't make it easy, but I figured a lot of this was a dead give away.

* This person has a rather self-relevant, if not egocentric, view on geometry; and, unlike our previous guest, has no governed affinity toward maple syrup or edible oil products.
kooptangles and he's NOT Canadian

* This person is not a deweloper.

* Cellphones, winged insects and... you REALLY need to get out more
cellphones
Insects
get out

* This editor is best known for crossover videos using popular and arguably over used sources. And has been recently accused of taking contest trolling to new levels.

Mr Pilkington wrote:Actually this would be a lot of fun imho. I figure there are some people that might not been keen on the roast so we'd give an hour to seat, eat and mingle, then circa 9 put on the show.

I love this idea and I think it would go over just fine. Maybe we could try it for one year and see how it goes? It'd be a really neat way for new editors to come to AWA and meet everyone and have some fun and open up.

My only concern is, do we want to keep this as part of the VAT events though? Especially if it fills seats? I guess if you were to do that, there would need to be more of a general audience approach, because a general audience is not going to get a lot of the inside jokes/references. Maybe if you kept it a VAT event, structure everything so that all the jokes have a setup or a story about the editor, so the general audience gets the context? Or show some of their videos and then take digs at those? I think just changing around the presentation a little bit would go a very long way.

That seemed to be the problem this year, a lot of people did not get it and I think attendance in the end will just be creators and people who know those doing the roast.

I do however have a few "intresting" other ideas I might be applying at the other cons I run first, not along lines of the roast, but soemthing more people woudl be a part of with interacting AMVs
