Question

Post by TritioAFB » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:22 am

I'll like ask about the crowd:

Who in the org is related to the medicine field?

As far as I know, the only ones I know are Kiarrens, ActiveNoise and Scrnshot, but I'm curious to know if there are any other guys into the field

Hmm well does having a sister as a Nurse, and another sister as a Unit Clerk count?
Or what about my boyfriends sister & sister-in-law both being Doctors? =3

or or I used to be a Health Care Aid, does that work also? XD

I am but a lowly executive administrative assistant, so most of what I do is directing phone calls and doing data entry for patients with O2, IV fluid hydration and CPAP/BiPAP equipment. We do also deal with patients with vent/trach, but I don't deal directly with patients often except over the phone.

Best phone call I've gotten:
Patient: "Hi, I need help with my equipment."
Me: "Oh, ok. What sort of equipment do you have with us?"
Patient: "The kind that plugs into the wall."
(Thanks, random patient. Thanks a lot. That could be anything from a toaster to a CPAP.)

I'm still in high school, but I'm getting my CNA cert next spring, gonna continue shadowing a bunch of nurses at my hospital, and if I dig it enough I'm going to try and get into a BSN program and then so on so forth until (hopefully) I become a CRNA. |:>

My sister works for a pharmaceutical research company iirc (she's changed jobs a few times over the past 4 years, I can never keep track). But I used to work for the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development which is basically in charge of making sure all our hospitals are up to code and if there are any disasters, we send inspectors and engineers to make sure the buildings and facilities were all safe.

I have a few aunts who are nurses at a local hospital. Both of my uncles and one of my cousins on the same side work for a Mental Health company. I used to be the IT Admin for the same company. My sister has been working for an eye doctor for a few years now and is just starting med school in order to go into dentistry.

I used to work in the health care field.

I've seen some pretty intense surgical procedure pictures.... :uhoh:

I'm not in medicine, I'm a communication/language specialist, but I've been involved (sadly at the moment I'm not) in medical communication research for the past 3 years or so. Stuff like designing patient education programs and software for medical records and other useful sorts of things. So I've worked directly with doctors, nurses and counselors a fair bit.
