unfortunately its not there, so can I just add synirc to the networks? (I probably cant right?)

irc.synirc.net is what you want to add.

Yup. Click add, give it a name, then click modify. In place of newserver/6667 write what Scott said.

Having a problem where the program doesnt recognise it as a server

try irc.synirc.org as the server

and if you need to specify a port, you can specify irc.synirc.org:6667 as the server which should take.

Also, when you get into #AMV, ignore NME/NM3. He's pretty much constantly stoned out of his mind, and therefore rarely says anything that could be perceived as coherent...

It can happen, but prolonged exposure to #AMV activity isn't advised.
