If you squint your eyes for more than 10 seconds during/after watching...it's a bad AMV.

If you hear a song you like and no longer feel like listening to it anymore after watching...it's a bad AMV.

(on the reverse side, if the song is awful but made you like it after watching ...it's a GOOD AMV.

Ok i can tell you a bit what makes an AMV bad in ma opinion.
First the cuts or synchro of anything dont fit to the music. As fast music and slow long scenes, the music and video look like different things not like one.
Also if i dont get into the idea of the video and it takes my emotions. Like a good dance video make feeling to have a party here. Or a good horror video makes me scared.
If a dance AMV dont get me and i look at the timeline and ask myself, how long will this video be? Then its over, because a good video or movie catches my mind and i dont think about time. It i see after the video, wow that was 6 Minutes long but it feeld like nothing, the job was great done.
Ok i think i wrote much sh** and i must try to learn english again XD
