BUYING PLANE TICKETS, SEE YOU IN A FEW HOURS

Seriously though, I've been dying to see this movie. I can't believe they don't have it here yet :|

On another note, I've always been one of those people that require a lot of sleep, I generally don't do very well unless I get at least 10 hours. On the plus side, I never have a problem falling asleep or staying asleep, it's just that the mornings hurt. so. much.

Once I'm up, I'm generally good to go, but I started doing research trying to figure out if there was anything I could do to feel better in the morning. On rare occasions, I have these times where I get around 6 hours of sleep, or maybe 8, but I'm just wide awake, no prob, ready to go. I have found that exercise and diet do help a little bit, but still, I have a "go the hell to bed" alarm on my phone that goes off at 9:30pm, and I'm generally in bed by 10:00. I have to get up at 7 in order to make it to work at 8. That's 9 hours. Yet I still slap the alarm like 10 times before I finally, begrudgingly, drag my carcass out of bed.

Then I found this site, sleepyti.me. Apparently the brain goes through predictable 90 minute sleep cycles throughout the night, averaging 5 or 6. According to this site, you can do with less sleep, but waking up inbetween one of these cycles is the key to not feeling like ass in the morning. So I've been trying it, turns out I need to be in bed by either 9:45, or 11:15 or so to be able to time it right. Turns out, I have been going to bed at a time that results in me needing to get up at the WORST possible time. Since I changed my timing, I've noticed a difference :O Today, a Monday morning, I was actually up and dressed and happy...it's kindof amazing :O

You can do it with lower numbers of cycles too, and you'll wake up feeling great, but feel like you need to crash hard after lunch. The people that do this are the core market for 5 hour energy and the like.

I'd also recommend doing a sleep study if this starts to not work for you. If those cycles are broken in the night (sometimes without you really being able to tell) then you're not getting as much sleep as you think you are.

I saw some gadget profiled a few months back that you wear around your wrist when you go to bed. It's supposed to be able to tell, from biometric feedback, where you are in a sleep cycle and set a variable alarm to wake you up when the time is optimal based on the parameters you set (i.e. before X:XX no matter what).

Got an awesome deal on an awesome place for september with my landlord, who'll be living upstairs from me at that. It is 1 billion times better than what I have now, for only $30 more (and I bargained that down surprisingly easily, too) :awesome:

Kind of weird to post this in the happy thread, but anyways....

Our old apartment complex is about to go up in flames.

Currently in Colorado Springs, where Kisanzi and I live, there is a massive fire. They've evacuated a rather large number of people and the fire doesn't show any signs of slowing. As of right now, on the livestream, not only can you see our apartment complex, you can see our individual unit that we were living in until last month. Kisanzi's mom has even been evacuated as she lived about 10-15 minutes away from where our old place was. It's incredibly likely that by tomorrow morning, our old apartments will be gone. (His mom is perfectly safe btw, she was only forced to evac because they lost electricity.)

Why is this in the happy thread you ask? While my heart goes out to those affected by the fire and I pray for their safety, I'm having one of those "everything happens for a reason" moments.

When I lost my job in May of last year, I was devastated. I've never had such a horrible experience with a company and Matt was forced to deal with quite a large financial burden for over 6 months. I felt like a miserable human being. But when I got my new job, we knew that the commute would be insane so we would have to move closer to my work. That was less than 30 days ago. I should also mention, that at our old apartments we had no renters insurance so we would have lost everything if we were still there and they do catch on fire as they're predicted to do.

In the past couple weeks, there was flooding, golf ball sized hail, and now a massive fire. In our new apartments on the outskirts of town, we're missing all of it. When it was flooding with actual rivers running through town, we got a couple clouds but not even a drop of rain. The fire is quite visible from where we are but there is virtually no chance of it reaching us.

So in a time of tragedy, it's pretty surreal to look back and say that one of the most difficult times I've had recently has helped us avoid a much worse situation than I ever could have imagined.

I guess things do happen for a reason?

That all being said, I'm going to go donate some money to the firefighters and shelters. They need to get this shit out.

As an update to this post:
I found a new bank and officially got set up with them this morning. All that's left is to close my existing Wells Fargo account and it'll be over.

I swear, if I knew about how good the coverage was with this one, I never would have even signed up with Wachovia in the first place.

"The way I'm doing it I haven't seen anyone else do EVER. I'm spending so much time on this one and like I said, my formula is working out rather well. All of the series I'm using are just flowing into eatchother, and rather than representing a character from a series, their basically representing good or evil. I know this one will stand out from the rest. I'm confident it will. " - Sephirothskr
