Interesting Find: RENT in icelandic....

Postby iserlohn » Tue Dec 24, 2002 1:58 am

For those who know me and my odd tendencies in music, I found something fun today...

The Icelandic cast recording of RENT.

"so what, it's another crappy musical in a language I can't understand."

Ah, touche. This is the special version which shows how disregarding the original direction can improve your production greatly. While this is only a highlights album (a couple of my fave songs like Contact, What You Own, Christmas Bells, and La Vie Boheme are missing), the new techno-ized versions of "Out Tonight" (a bitchin' song to begin with) and "Today 4 U" definately merit listening.

Now if only I could get a video of the Norweigan production where Mimi breathes fire and the songs are so oddly rearranged that "Out Tonight" (Act 1 Song 14) leads into "Contact" (Act 2 Song 9)....
"I'm recording an album tonight. Funny material and laughter will be dubbed in later."
