ExSphere wrote:Will this be judged purely on how well we follow our theme, or a mix between that and the editing? Because I can see some bullshit nostromo video coming out of here and someone just saying "oh yea, that's earth bro... It's too deep for you to understand it" And they get first place just for using pretty footage and calling a bullshit theme that really has no true detention like "romance" holds. Then again what if someone uses the song "FIRE" by scooter and just makes some crazy action video and says "yea, well didn't you hear the lyrics?? It said fire! so herp derp yo"

I like the idea of trying to think outside of the box, but lets also try to make it have some sense :nose:

Yes, editing is part of the scoring process. Even if the theme is well executed, poor editing will still get a lower score. The scoring is a mix between editing/sync, theme and visual/audio quality (NOT to say that older sources are screwed, just meaning that videos interlaced to crap won't be getting a huge advantage).

As someone said earlier, the judges are not going to be caught up by the "oooooh fireeeeeeeeeee shinyyyyyyyyy". They know. ;)

Just had a good question asked of me, so I wanted to add a clarification to the main page.

4) Altered forms of the elements (such as ice for water or lava for fire) is permitted.

lava and ice? How does a lava video differ from a fire video? I'm not trying to be smart or belittle your idea ( I'm just legitimately confused ) but wouldn't they fall under the same category? I guess lava is more hot, and when I think of lava I think of things melting rather than catching on fire. Are we expected to gather clips of actual "fire" and "water" or just try our best to symbolize our element with effects and song combination?

Read that post once more. Or look up "Permitted" in dictionary ;x

I'd hazard a guess but I expect a lot of people to include actual fire, water, etc. in either their anime, their music, or both. Although on a purely thematic/symbolic level, there's a lot you can do with ice that you can't with water (and vice versa).

Well, yes, that was my point. Fire/lava and ice/water is basically the same thing to me in terms of those respective elements. I just mentioned it because somebody asked me, and I thought someone else might also want to know the answer to that.

Ah ok that makes sense. Guess we'll see how lava and fire differ when the videos release.

I was prepared for some evil twisted theme not related to nature at all

I'm glad that I woke up 3 hours early and while eating breakfast read Code's mail. I immediately went through my music list and had an epiphany. Sadly I had to get ready to go to work when I was already having too much editing my song :(

This will be fun to do and also really fun to watch all the videos at the end!

Epiphanies for the win! -high fives- |:>
