Any thinkers here?

Post by Eake4 » Mon May 07, 2012 6:00 am

Thanks if you have clicked on this topic and please give me some ideas on essay writing topics related to the theme 'growing up'. I need something specific like why growing up in forceful families are better, instead of broad topics like why growing up is awesome. This is only 15 year old level so no need to go to crazy (still appreciated :)). Thanks in advance!

How about "The Misconception of Growing Up". I know plenty of people who have aged, but act like immature 12 year olds even in their late 20's-early 30's. >_>

Or the more boring route, "Growing Up : A Necessity in Survival". Fiscal responsibility, social responsibility, not being a leech/hobo, and all that jazz.

Great ideas!! But can you please elaborate by what you mean in the topic "growing up: a necessity in survival"? I like both ideas since they are incredibly creative and smart!

Basically, growing up is almost a necessity in survival in today's times. Being responsible and not doing stupid shit will get you a long way.

Growing out of the immature "I WANT IT NOW" mindset with more expensive items (such as big screen TVs, the latest gaming system or other crap) is important. Otherwise, people just sign up for a credit card and accumulate so much debt/interest that they cannot possibly ever hope to escape from it, to the point where they have to almost completely restart their lives through bankruptcy. When choosing a place to live, living within ones price range and not getting an overpriced apartment/home that one can barely afford is generally something to do. Although controllable debt isn't a terrible thing.

Socially speaking, I naturally mean being mature enough to realize that this isn't high school/elementary school anymore. There are just some things that aren't "funny" once you've hit a certain age. Drinking/partying all hours of the night and going into work is not a generally good thing to do as you age. Having protected "relations" (should one choose to be active in this regard) is also important unless you want children to be responsible for. Oh, and I honestly think social media responsibility fits in here too. Quit putting stupid "OMG I H8 MAH BOSS" on your personal Facebook/Twitter. Anyone can see that stuff, and you are ruining your chances for employment.

Speaking from a business perspective, growing up in "fashion" is also something that is necessary. Suggestive T-Shirts or baggy jeans are a big ol' no-no. Not saying that wearing that kind of stuff on one's own personal time/dime is wrong, but when at work or meeting co-workers/clientele in public, appearance is everything and first impressions are very powerful. (You would THINK this would be obvious, but it is NOT to many people I've been involved with)

So in the most basic form, surviving in today's economy and world is very dependent on one's ability to mature and grow up.

EDIT: All of this is null and void if your name ends in Kardashian or Hilton. >_>

Or you could write about how the modern educational system expects us to "grow up" (plus, you can be a proper leftist and criticize the society while you're at it :D ).

When you talk about growing always consider the cultural aspect. Just not only for the culture itself but about the conception of passing to maturity.

Like I was mentioning with the teenagers, what about the special circunstances when a teen has to become a mom? what if they lost their parents and have to work from an early age? how does this influence in the self-esteem of the teen? what about their personality?

That could be fun. Take the "you wouldn't be here if it weren't for me" argument parents toss at their kids and flip it over.

Why should anyone have to grow up? Why are parents only held responsible for their actions for eighteen years? No matter how old their kid gets, it's still their fault the rest of the world has to deal with him or her. It was your parents' choice to get frisky and create you. Creating life is a serious matter and they should spend the rest of *their* lives making sure the world doesn't have to suffer for that ten minutes of fun they had. And if anyone tries to bring the issue of personal responsibility or adulthood into question, just remind them that you are the creature your parents created. They molded you into the adult human you became. If you're a brat, that's because they turned you into one through bad parenting. If you're a serial killer then they obviously didn't teach you enough about respecting life and bewaring the consequences of your actions. Everything you do for as long as you live can be traced right back to those two people who had sex and squirted you into the world. It's all their fault and always will be. Making you grow up is just their way to rid themselves of their responsibility. Fight it with everything you've got. If you're lucky, you'll still be living in their house when it comes time to ship them off to the old folk's home. Possession is nine tenths of the law, and housing prices just keep going up. Dig in early and they'll never get rid of you. Everything they own will be yours, as it should be. If they didn't want to live for you until the day they die, then they shouldn't have created you in the first place.
