The Vent Thread

My main system has been randomly rebooting from an unknown hardware failure. Windows hasn't picked up on what component is doing it, and it happens so rarely that I haven't been able to figure out what's wrong. Only thing I noticed is that after it happens, any USB ports that had devices in them when it went don't work when it comes back up, so i need to move my keyboard and mouse to another port to log in. They work fine afterward though... Gonna have to take the thing apart - hopefully whatever it is will be fairly obvious. One of my monitors has been freaking out sporadically as well, so it might very well be the video card.

So, not only did I come home from work to see it had happened again, I swore I shut the damn thing down before I left in the morning. At least Win7 caught on to the fact that my system had been crashing an awful lot lately and asked me if it could look into the problem.

It sounds less like a hardware problem and more like possession at this point. Call the Ghostbusters?

Life without editing is depressing. I was trying to do more around the house, but now I've just lost all of my zest for life. Nothing is ever good enough and my editing is an addiction. I have 4 projects I would love to finish and I can't stop dancing!

Just thought I'd vent a little......I'm getting lonely, but my daughter starts school in September so I'm hoping to get out a little more. I'll have my liscence in June (hopefully).

Plus I'll be 30 this year I hope things are uphill from here

Not really a vent, but my car battery died right as I was coming home. There was some serious corrosion on the battery and I hope that it isn't the alternator going out

I didn't have time to type this out yesterday, but a 10 year old kid knocked a foul ball into oncoming traffic and cracked half of my windshield. Stopped and tried to get information on if the field has some sort of insurance policy, and it turns out that it's some Big Brothers/Big Sisters program team that's sponsored by the city. Which means that I'm likely not going to get anything to help me pay for the damages, and quotes are going to run me nearly 300 bucks. >_>

The kid did apologize though. I told him it wasn't a big deal and not to worry about it though, looked like he was about to cry.

Yesterday was terrible.

I was in the middle of edition, when suddenly my dad visits me. I was expecting a salutation when he came enraged and practically I had to stop editing. Seems he needed my pc to do an Excel work. The worst part is that he was scolding me as hell just because I didn't have Expert's knowledge about it. And I was like: But do I seem like the guy that works with Excel everyday?

After that I just had to leave the room until he was done. When I claimed him about his poor attitude, he excused himself with facts like: You know son, you should go and party more. WTF?! We're talking about your attitude, not about my private life. And as a doctor, how do you expect me to be partying all the day if I had patients to attend?

Have to wake up at 5am to get ready and go to work, so you try to go to sleep about 9pm or so.

9:30PM - Get call from insane mother in California who is going through a bunch of crap she found in your old room.
"DO YOU WANT THIS BLUE HARMONICA? IT SAYS BLUES HARMONICA?"
"WHAT use would I have for a harmonica?"
"It's a VERY useful instrument!"

10:00pm - Insane mother refuses to hang up the phone with you and continues to go on about things she found under your old bed that now belongs to your younger brother.
"I found condoms. Lot's of condoms. Some of them used! He couldn't even bother to throw out his used condoms!"
"That is disgusting."

10:15pm - Finally get off the phone with insane mother.

10:30pm - Cat vomits in the hallways, boyfriend screams like a little girl and begs you to go clean it up because it's gross.

10:40pm - Done cleaning cat vomit and scrubbing carpet so it doesn't stain.

10:45pm - While trying to go to bed, cat runs into bedroom, jumps on headboard, beings purring and licking it. First you feel happy that he seems to being doing better but then you notice that he reeks of horrid smelling bile and is spreading that smell all over your bed with his tongue. Have boyfriend catch cat and hold him while you turn on lights to find out the damage.

11:00pm - Cleaned headboard with disinfectant and changed sheets, all the while boyfriend is whining that the cat smells like bile.

11:35pm - Finish giving the cat a bath due to horrible smell. Change your clothes because you are now soaked since boyfriend doesn't know how to assist you in washing a cat but does know exactly what to do to make him flail about in a spectacular fashion.

12:00am - Finish blow drying the cat so he doesn't run around soaking wet. All the while, everytime the blowdryer turns off, the cat feels the need to yowl like you're murdering him, just because he hates being towel dried. Pretty sure your neighbors think you're psychopaths now.

12:30am - Finish disinfecting the rest of the apartment and checking every spot that could even possibly resemble vomit. Stupid fuzzy carpet chunks from his cat tower....

1:00am - Finally manage to fall asleep.

5:00am - Alarm goes off.

5:00:01am - FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I just love cats.
Mine has been waking me up at least 20 times during the night in the past few days, walking in and out of house and mewing all around it, so that the whole street could hear that he came in/out.

I supported my mom for years, and it sucked. Eventually I just had to cut out and let her deal with her own problems. She's basically taken care of by social security, medicaid, and her parents now, but I know that can't last forever.

It just makes me feel like I've got to do whatever I can with what I've got now, so that I don't end up in her situation later, where you're taken care of by flimsy social support systems.
