OSx264GUI 0.1 [alpha release]

Post by LantisEscudo » Sun Nov 27, 2011 10:17 pm

OSx264GUI is an x264 frontend for OS X, patterned on Zarx264GUI. This 0.1 release is being put out for early alpha testing on machines other than my own for anyone interested in trying it out.

Current missing features (in various stages of progress):
- 2-Pass Bitrate Mode
- AAC audio encoding via CoreAudio
- Drag-and-drop file loading
- Tooltips

I can't say thank you to Zarxrax enough, both for making the original this is based on and for providing his source code to me to recreate in Obj-C/Cocoa.

This is my first real programming project since I finished grad school, so any feedback users can provide would be greatly welcomed.

What muxers is it using? Also, intended as an AMV tool or general purpose x264 GUI? Also, patched x264 feature detection, i.e. settings for FGO or fade comp, or is that only advanced usage? Source link plox. Looks neat though.

It uses the LSMASH muxer, and is primarily intended as an AMV tool. I'm not sure what you mean by "patched x264 feature detection," can you elaborate a bit?

I can get you a source link once I unearth my MacBook (I'm doing some major cleaning, and it's in one of a multitude of boxes ATM).

As in, not expecting any particular build of x264. If someone compiles their own with various patches, is your GUI able to add settings for them automatically or are they required under the advanced tab as manual input? An example would be the --fade-compensate flag.

Better late than never...

So I downloaded this...kneeled on all fours and praised allah...then I ran a mov file which was originally an avi fresh from VDub and moved (NOT RE-ENCODED) to the mov container through MPEG Streamclip...played it in quicktime...and got this:

AND NO AUDIO, MIGHT I ADD
Now before I blasphemed against allah, I ran that newly created mp4 through Handbrake and got this:

WITH AUDIO THIS TIME
Please tell me if this is too good to be true.

Get a decent player. Mplayer OSX Extended with mplayer2 support is the best choice, VLC 2.0 is a decent alternative though not as good.

Also why the hell is that E7 footage stretched to 16:9, it looks ugly... :uhoh:
