For me it's definitely this:

It gave me shivers in a way I thought was not possible (and I feel obliged to say that Pencilhead, while technically awesome, left me pretty emotionless)

This also, maybe not jaw-dropping like the obvious choice of Pencilhead...but its a perfect amv you can easily watch time and time again.

PencilHead was too artistic to me, it almost didn't feel like an AMV.
x2 on both accounts. Transforming the source footage into something that's so radically alien from its origins just makes it hard for me to appreciate it as an ANIME music video, however great its technical and creative merit. Best of the Year has to be the total package, and for me, All That You Can't Leave Behind ties it up with a very nice bow.

x3 I have to say as amazing as the technical and effect work in Pencilhead was, there were alot of times were I wasn't feeling accurate sync between the audio and video, which is very important to me. Example: Starting at 1:08 where the song starts repeating "right here, right now". I pretty much felt no sync there. Still a great video though, and has many great aspects.
Along with that, Scorpion's video had a very well told story and a more detailed concept to me.

Fate matrix was awesome; pencilhead isn't even on the same playing field. I kept thinking to myself, wow, each and every moment of Pencilhead. the last time i had this reaction was Auriga.
