How to get clips from an anime?

Hey,
This question has been on my mind for a while.

What is the best way to get clips from an anime?
Before I used to convert .mkv to .mp4 to edit on Vegas.
But now i'm editing the .mkv in virtual dub - however, I don't know how to get rid of the subtitles this way.

What methods do you guys use?

Care to answer a few questions first?

1) Is the MKV hard or soft subbed?
2) Are you directly importing the MKV into virtualdub, or are you using a script with Avisynth?

You might consider, however, getting the DVDs of the series, which would be naturally without subtitles anyway.

The anime is Soft subbed, I think I used Avisynth to import the MKV into virtual dub using the "DirectShowSource" script ( I used this tutorial: http://bit.ly/jmx4Bx )
Unfortunately I can't get the anime on Blu ray or DVD in my area :/

Hmmm... Have you tried ffmpegsource2(filedestination)? That's usually a better filter to use anyway, at least in my experience.

You might also consider trying online anime retailers to get the DVDs. They can be a little pricy, but SOOO worth it.

I havn't tried ffmpegsource2 . Silly queston: Where can I get it from? x) I can't find it.

I'm having a problem importing the mkv.
I can't find any thing online about it :/

Avisynth version: 2.5.8

( I changed which mkv I was gonna edit , but i still get the same problem x] )

I'm no expert in this situation when it comes to errors. MirkoSP or McDirty might be better sources here, since I only know how to work the things, but don't know much about the software specifically. XD

You might consider uninstalling/reinstalling Avisynth and then put the new plugins back in? Because it does say this in the installation bit:

If you already have other AviSynth plugins installed, then I highly recommend you remove them and start over from a fresh new installation of AviSynth, because otherwise conflicts may occur between your existing plugins and the plugins contained in this pack. If you don't want to lose your existing plugins, you can move them to a different folder and then copy them back later, as needed. Otherwise, the installation process should be straightforward.

You might also consider just installing the full AMVAPP on the link I provided if you do decide to do a fresh installation.
