is chobits pretty clean or does it have to be clean

Well, for starters, screenshots of how the DVD looks could help a bit.
Chobits is a rather recent anime, so a wild guess would be that aside from IVTC, crop and resize (Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides Lovingly Overhauled Largely by Zarxrax</a> if you don't know what these are), it shouldn't need anything.
