AniDB wrote:After her sister becomes a top model, 6th-year grade-schooler Ayase Chihaya too dreams of becoming one. However, transfer student Wataya Arata admonishes her to seek her own dream. Thus, she takes up karuta, a Japanese card game, competitively. Together with Arata and Mashima Taichi, Chihaya's childhood friend, they have great fun playing each other, but separate after graduation.

4 years later, Chihaya returns to town. Although Arata no longer plays the game, she believes that they will eventually reunite as long as she continues karuta. Together with Taichi, she establishes the Zuisawa High-school Karuta Club.

I thought the first episode has set an interesting standard. I'll definitely be watching more. I seriously hope they do the past/future thing a lot, and we get two stories in one! It's got a good setup thus far, but I can really go either way at this point.

I kinda sorta wish they'll play a lot more extensively with the flashback/future thing... they could play it out like Baccano! in a way, although I very much doubt they'll do that. Still a very interesting show, for me it has high chances of being the best of the season, actually.

Spoiler :
I really didn't like it when Taichi took his glasses, that was just so unfair. Lucky Chihaya was there to save the day! :asd: Though I did feel a tad sorry for Taichi when he was crying begging Wataya to not tell Chihaya he was the one who took it since he didn't want her to think she was a "mean" guy since he had a big crush on her. Which is pretty sweet. <3

Yeah I'm liking this show so far. Think I'll be following it for a while! ^^

It's on crunchyroll, bro. And, incredibly, the encode isn't even half bad for once, if I do say so myself.

So far this is one of my favorites this season. The animation is sooo nice, and the characters are neat even if a little cliche, buuuut I love stories like this so \o/
