Sony vegas render settings?
Hey,
I'm quite new to making amvs.
I use Sony Vegas Pro 10.
Anyone know the best render settings most suitable for You-tube? Regardless of the file size .
Thanks in advance ,
-John.

Render it lossless from Vegas, then use Zarx264GUI to encode it. My Youtube always work with that.

Blur it a bit for youtube uploads to trick the quantizer, it'll be less blocky at lower bitrates that way </hax>

ummmm.....no. Do not do that. The files that Zarx264GUI makes for me are usually less that 30Mb. There is absolutely no need to reduce the quality of the video.Mister Hatt wrote:Blur it a bit for youtube uploads to trick the quantizer, it'll be less blocky at lower bitrates that way </hax>

Where did I say it reduces the quality of the video? In fact, it increases it you dolt.

Perhaps the term 'blur' is causing the confusion - it is for me.

Here's what youtube does when the video isn't blurred:
OH GOD WHAT DO I DO I NEED INCREASE THE QUANTIZER IF I WANT TO KEEP THIS WITHIN BITRATE LIMITS -> Shit looks awful
What it does when it's slightly blurred:
OHEY THIS QUANTIZER SHOULD BE FINE NO NEED TO COMPRESS IT TO HELL -> Shit looks less awful
That's about it.
An alternative is using some denoiser to remove some extra detail or something like that. Basically, you want to make the video easy to compress so youtube will be able to mangle it less, and less detail means less bitrate required, generally. It's just that blurring it a bit is the easiest way to do it.

So you mean to take this for example:
and do this to it: (exaggerated)
not THIS: (also exaggerated)

Yeah, I guess. It's just that simply blurring is easier and faster, aside from safer if you want to be totally sure youtube won't overquantize (very sharp borders are still somewhat of an issue). Plus anybody knows how to blur lightly; denoise... not so much.
