My AWA Pro Video (I forgot to send in)

Postby Prodigi » Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:29 am

Oh hey it's new video time for me. This was going to be my AWA Pro entry. I had it ready in time but forgot to send it in and by the time I remembered I was in the midst of plane rides from Chicago to Australia and just didn't have the time. So... my bad?

Title: Ashes To Ashes (Youtube)
Category: Drama, Action
Footage: Luther (Season 1)
Song: The Noose
Artist: A Perfect Circle
Creator: Me!

(Yes, I did use the full song)

This video came about due to three things:

1) I had already wanted to do a Luther video focusing specifically on the events in season 1, and about 3 weeks before making this video I rewatched the episodes with a friend who hadn't seen the show.
2) I caught the tail-end of A Perfect Circle's set at Lollapalooza which included "The Noose" and reminded me of how much I liked this song.
3) I needed an AWA Pro video.

Editeditedit.

Thanks to Brad for letting me steal your computer while you were at work, and Andre for re-rendering and compressing this for me after I was back home. Beta testers were Brad, Andre, Liz, Kiki and Jani.

It's good work. The last minute is especially captivating. I'll probably get this series next as I just finished White Collar. ;)

Haha YES! I converted almost that entire apartment to White Collar. Thanks for the feedback =o

Sweet. Good to know. I was a little apprehensive at how people would interpret the end, glad to know I got across at least some of the suspense that shows in that episode. Seriously, I highly suggest checking out this show, if only for that last episode of the season where you get so worked up about everything in it haha.

Lemme know what you think. This song live at Lolla was pretty epic.

Wootness.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

A couple of things the peeps on LJ Vidding have said so far:
"Full of squee for this vid! Brilliant on all levels - it gave me the 'edge of the seat' feeling that I got from watching the series. Awesome!"
"Fantastic!!"
"holy crap, that was gorgeous & terrifying."
"love this! I've never seen the show, but this was gorgeous and now I really want to. :D"
"The editing is superb! This was absolutely engrossing. Gave me the chills."

It wouldn't have been a problem if...
1. You'd registered with the upload site
2. You'd registered this video and added it to the Pro contest before the deadline
3. Let us know at videoart@awa-con.com

Alas, I didn't see this topic in time, and you've already released the video which breaks the blind.

Good work though, and feel free to enter it in one of our other contests!

Well, to be fair, about 2/3 1/2 (Edit: Yes, I actually went through and counted, it's exactly half. >_>) of what is in the contest this year is already online, haha, I don't think one more would hurt.

Well, the Oscars aren't exactly blind either. I really don't worry about it, some people just prefer it.

Then it's not really a reason for his video to not be able to compete, that's all I'm saying. :P

So the judging and submissions must be blind according to your rules...but you don't really care and say you don't worry about it but prefer it...

Wait, what?

It's one or the other. I've never entered Pro because I've never had a video that I could send it to be a blind entry by the deadline. So you're saying that for now on...I ignore the rules and just say "in a perfect world, it'd be totally blind judging and such." And then go about my merry business?

RED MEANS STOP. But it's ok, we just prefer you stop, I guess you can go.

Haha yeah, it's all good. I know you guys are fairly flexible about the cut-offs (2 of the last 3 years I entered I actually sent in my videos about 24-48 hours after the deadline due to re-rendering, etc, issues).

But in this case I hadn't even done the forms and stuff so I called it a loss and left it as is. I'm thinking I might shoot it through to Expo.
