"Paypal Response Was INVALID" and other error messages

Post by GloryQuestor » Tue Nov 09, 2010 7:07 pm

Just to let everyone know, if you happen to get this error message when making a donation, it does not mean that the transaction has been rejected. If Paypal and your bank report that the money has been taken out, then we have most likely received it.

The error message issue seems to be related to Paypal's more recent changes, which isn't confirming the transaction as you make it but completes it shortly thereafter. Also, those using checking or other direct bank accounts rather than credit card or debit card accounts to make Paypal payments should be aware that there is a 5-7 day waiting period to clear, which is usually indicated in all of Paypal's response e-mails.

If your donation status does not change by the end of the week you make the donation and Paypal does not inform you of a waiting period beyond that, send a message to the Donations Manager e-mail (donations@animemusicvideos.org) and we'll review it further.

Thanks again for your patronage and continued support. :)

So, I never checked before paying, but do we still automatically get donation privileges for pledging? If so, why do these go away in the above scenario?

When it comes to these types of errors, the automated system in place may miss these transactions. We have been checking our accounts periodically to make sure that those with errors are carried over if they are skipped and the donation status restored, usually every 5 - 7 days.

Just a note that we have been working to get our Paypal response system back to normal after Paypal's changes in processing. Please note that, while doing so, you may see other error messages pop up, like:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE...on line 90

Don't worry about it. As said above, if Paypal and your bank said you sent the donation payment, then the donation has been received on our end. We will continue to try and update our systems to eliminate the error messages.

Thank you once again for your donations and continued support of AnimeMusicVideos.Org. :)
