-I always manage to screw up the more "technical" stuff, guaranteed.

- I can't edit anything but drama and romance anymore.

-I'll get excited over an idea but once I work on it for about 7 minutes, I realize it looked a lot better in my head then dump it. -_-

...too many more to type out.

- In AE I always screw something up in 3D.
- I don't edit when I'm free but when I'm busy I'm mad since I don't have time to edit.
- I can't really get all three requirements for amv together (idea, song, anime).
- I hardly finish my projects these days, I usually drop them after 20 seconds of the project is done.

I always end up chopping off a good half of a song because I don't have the resolve to finish it.

When I near the completion of a video I just want to get done with it and never touch the timeline again, so my videos tend to be weaker and sloppier in the later half/ending. >_>

I only make AMVS because of lyrical sync and beat sync, and apparently that's bad because we are supposedly suppose to make a concept as well(I think a concept is a retarded idea, most people don't care about it, because most people don't understand it).

I think some concepts revolvs around how you use your lyrical sync and beat sync.

At last a thread I feel I can contribute to! :D

* I don't take kindly to helpful advice while I'm editing, in fact it's one of the few things that makes me revert to a petulant 6-year-old. One of the reasons I don't do MEPs. It's not that I think my vids are perfect, I just don't think I can make them any better, sad as that may seem.
* Composition. How do people do this? So often I am reduced to shuffling clips around the timeline until they don't suck too badly. After that I'm afraid to touch anything (see above).
* Reliance on high concept to cover the fact that I can't edit (see above).
* Too much time just watching the video over and over, including parts that I have no intention of changing. I kid myself that it's so I can better judge the "flow" required for the unfinished parts. In fact it's because if I watch the good bits enough times, I might get the confidence to lay something down on the big blank areas that I have no ideas or suitable footage for.
* I hate doing lipsync, and I'm not that good at it. And yet I still use it in almost all my vids.
* Effects? I can do effects if it's to sell a gag, but if I try to get artistic it looks embarrassingly bad.

I glad that I'm not alone in some of these afflictions.

I suppose thats true, but if there is a concept and no really great lyrical sync or beat sync, then what was the point of the concept?

The point of having a concept (to me) is to have a general idea/theme around which the rest of the amv is structured...most concepts aren't really tied to any specific sync at all imo. A concept makes it more than just a random collection of clips that anyone could throw together.

I believe that having the structure that a concept can bring helps in making amvs feel more polished/better executed.

Well, I don't understand why something needs a concept if hardly anyone looks for a concept. Its something we aren't born with. Most people are Illiterate and aren't that great with finding the concept of anything. So, if your beat syncs, your effects and transitions work, and your clips match the song's mood and lyrics(or no lyrics if its an instrumental) than there really doesn't need to be a concept. It just has to be entertaining. :nose:
