Thanks for the feedback, everyone~ Guess I'll be getting rid of the zooms xD

Sure :3 I wonder why it didn't send O: Oh well. Is there anybody else that didn't see my newest beta?

AimoAio wrote:x2 at above posts. I think from 0:02-0:07, it only feels slow because you used still scenes with little camera movement so it feels slow compared to the rest which has more action and movement. Otherwise, it's fantastic.

Agreed.

WHAT IS UP PEEPS!! Sorry I was gone for so long. I hope Inan conveyed my message. I don't feel like going back through and looking through all the new posts at the moment. Anywho. Fill me in guys what did I miss?

And If you wanna know where I was, you can read all about it in my newest Journal post. I don't feel like typing it all in again. Just know that I damn near died. Journal tells it all :)

Currently downloading betas that were sent to me while I was absent. Will get back to you on my reviews of them tomorrow. I certainly hope you guys weren't slacking in my absence.

Sorry for the dbl post, but I felt I absolutely had to say something about iCardoids and Hagarens Betas while they are fresh on my mind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hagaren:

DUDE!! WTF!! Where is my black screen with text saying homework is a bitch and you are lazy? I wants it back because your beta would be epic with it.

In all seriousness though. The beta is awesome. After several rewatches I personally think it's about ready to be finalized. The beginning I think is fine and set's the mood for the rest of the video. I was a little worried at first because it looked a little slow but it transitioned nicely into the faster part of the video. I'd say keep it as is and send me a final. Beta is the shiznit :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iCardoid:

As I was downloading this beta I kept thinking, OMG!! OMG!! This is gonna be awesome, but was a little worried at the same time. Because I knew the track this beta was being edited too was hailed as the best track in the first CascadaThon.
After watching the beta the first time, I felt somewhat dissapointed. The video was really slow and a lot of the zoom transitions seemed really off-beat. I need to go back and watch it again, just a sec-------------------------------------It looked like it was.....how do I put this......forced? I don't know. I'm not trying to be mean by saying these things, and everyone here on the org knows that I rarely say anything bad and they also know I tend to sugar coat everything, but this....I just can't dude.

So, here goes. No hard feeling dude, I just gotta say what I think of this, but still give valid criticism. And the verdict:
I don't like it. The video itself or rather the scenes you chose were just really really slow. Maybe I was spoiled by the editing to the track a year ago, I don't know, so you can take this with a grain of salt cause this might seem or rather might be a little biast, I'm not sure. On top of your scene selection being slow, the quality was very diminished in some parts of the video like at: :24, :26-:28. And then from Time-code :10-:12 it looks like the scene was slowed down something fierce. The whole video just seemed really slow.

If the other editors disagree with me, then you guys can feel free to talk to me about my opinion and tell me what you see in the beta, cuz I'm not seeing what you guy's are seeing, sorry. Like I said, I'm not trying to be mean, this is just criticism, and I honestly can't give a good rating to this beta.

One more thing, I would honestly suggest going with a faster paced scene selection with this song while still maintaining your theme.

I'm known to sugar coat almost everything I review and I'm not known to give harsh reviews, but I do want the best for this MEP and I care about the tracks AND the editors that are involved in editing them, and I want to help bring out the best for their tracks. So, please don't take offense to this crit.

If you still want to use Kanon for your source, that's fine, just fasten up the pace and use a bunch of different scenes that make emphasis on that. Cuz in all honesty, this track looks very forced and those zooms made me cringe. Or if you want, you may choose another source. It's up to you. I want you to put out your best. Maybe it's just that Kanon is naturally too slow for the track you are editing too and for the theme you are trying to accomplish. I don't know. Just a little guess work.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And that does it for my reviews. Sorry if it sounded really harsh, I just want iCardoid to do the best possible job that he/she can on this track. Especially with this song. So, if anyone has any problems with my review, then please feel free to let me know your concerns and I'll be more than happy to address them with you. Even You iCardoid. Like I said, i wasn't trying to be mean, I just couldn't sugar coat it this time.

;A; I think I should just try another source because I think in Kanon, using Mai is the fastest it can get. ^^;

If that doesn't work out, then I'll probably just have to quit. :/ Not only because I obviously can't edit the track like the first person a year ago did, but school's starting for me so I won't be online much. ^^;

Thanks for the feedback and I'll try harder next time :D

This is why I don't like to be blunt when I review something. It's also why I sugar coat a lot of things. I feel bad afterwards and put myself on a major guilt trip.

I didn't say you had to edit the track in the way it was done a year ago. If you did that, then it would just be a clone. And therefore carry no weight amongst the other great tracks in the MEP. I just feel better scene usage and a better execution of your theme would benefit that section more. Maybe a different source would be the way to go with this track or maybe a multi-source it's up to the editor as to which source to use just as with the track it's up to the editor to edit the track according to the theme and find the best possible way to execute it.

I say give it another go. I would really hate for you to quit because of my input, if I feel guilty now, my mood will really go down the shitter if I feel you quit because of my review. Give it another go and see how it turns out. I just don't think Kanon was the right choice.

I think the biggest problem with your track is the pacing. It just feels slow because you used still scenes with little action/movement and since the track is pretty upbeat, it doesn't quite fit. You could try finding all the scenes with Mai and the other guy(dunno his name ) with movement and then use simple cuts to beat sync, that might be easier to do and will probably look nicer than the forced zoom syncs. If you need some help or just want more feedback/help you can hit me up on Skype. ^^ It would be sad if you dropped out now. :(

Hey guys. I got a couple of issues with a couple of the finals that were sent to me. I was just going over them last night and noticed some issues.

Aimo:

I have some weird slowdown and jumping, like the characters and stuff are twitching through the entirety of the vid. Can you maybe send me a re-render of the final to see if this eleviates the issue? I would be much appreciative. Thanks.

Pan:

On your Ah! My Goddess Final, 15-16 there is a split second clip during a transition that just looks god awful ugly, I didn't notice it before, but I am now. Can you maybe get rid of that and use a fade? It also looks like you used a color bleed there as well. I think just a regular fade would do fine. And at 21-22 there is another one during the flash. Can this be corrected as well? Again, I think a fade would work best here instead of the white flash. That's all that needs to be corrected in your final. Just a couple of the transitions.

I'm sorry if I'm inconveniencing anyone, I just want the parts to go as smooth as possible. I"m actually glad I went over these, else these issues would have carried over to the final project. I just want the MEP to be as good as possible.

Thanks guys.

Also, Jade, your Zero No Tsukaima portion I believe is ready to be finalized. If you could Huffy or lag it and send it my way I would love ya to death :)

Same goes for you Hagaren. Your Beta is ready to be finalized. huffy or lag it and send it my way and I will love ya to death :)

Also, if I can't get anyone for the credits, I have an amazing idea I wanna try. Just letting you all know. And I promise. I'll have my full beta to ya soon for review. Sorry it's taking so long, in the process of about to move AGAIN.......I think.

Re: CascadaThon 2-PLEASE CHECK POST GUYS. NEW POST AND UPDAT

Mean meaning to say that since pretty much EVERYONE I showed the track to thinks I should speed the beginning up a bit, I'd kinda like to sit on it for a little bit. I still dont know if I really want to change anything, but I should probably at least consider it - and I havent had the time to do so since I finished it.

So, just give me a bit longer~

Alright. I don't really agree with speeding it up since the beginning I think set's up the story you were going for as well as the mood and really helps to build it up. But if you wanna think on it that's alright I suppose.

Just remember guys that I want this MEP done by October. I've stated this 3 times already.

Um..I thought it was finished so I had already deleted my lossless clips. I'm wondering if it's because I rendered it in HD? I still have my lossless copy of the final though and I could try and re-render that into 480p to see if it works..? Or I could encode it to .mp4 and then you re-convert it to lossless again?

Umm, just try to find a workaround for now. In no hurry. Still waiting on some peeps to turn their parts in. If I can't fix it by the time i start compiling then I'll have to use the workaround.

EDIT: EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A COLLAB INVITE WAITING TO BE EXCEPTED!! ACCEPT IT RIGHT AWAY!!

I no longer have this project file. So I'll have to remake the whole thing and I really don't want to considering I may not have the internet soon.
