It must be the ending. The ending of AIR was kind of, I don't know, disappointing? Well, to me it was.
lol Well, that is certainly true that they're both weird. But xxxHolic goes hand in hand with TRC so you might want to at least check it out. *O*
And what about Kobato? Although, I've never watched it myself, people rave about it like its the best thing CLAMP ever made.

Let's see now. If you like Clannas AS and Eureka Seven, then Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and anything by Shinkai is right up your street. Here's what I'd recommend:

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
5 Centimeters per Second
The Place Promised in our Early Days
Voices of a Distant Star
Shinkai's latest film, when it's out
One Piece (simply because)
D.Gray-Man
Baccano!
Durarara!!
Code Geass (both seasons)
Natsume Yuujinchou (all seasons)
Mushishi
Any and all Ghibli movies, especially Nausicaa
FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
K-ON! (both seasons)
Andm, just for something completely different and just as hideously good, Hajime no Ippo.

most of these are pre-2005-ish! Of course I'm gonna get Samurai Champ and Cowboy Bebop. DragonballZ doesn't really have an awesome storyline that interests me. (Perhaps i would buy only a few dvds to make a parody?)

Any new dubbed animes I should be on the lookout for besides Angel Beats, (Hidan no Aria) The Scarlet Ammo, and High School of the Dead?

Hm... I supposed mandatory wise to being an Otaku, it'd have to be popular ones like:

Bleach, Naruto, Ouran High School Host Club, Code Geass, Death Note, Hetalia, any of Miyazaki's films, Fruits Basket, Elfen Lied, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Ef A tale of Melodies, Ef a tale of memories, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc.

As for ones I personally recommend... Hm... (besides the ones above of course)

No. 6, Pandora Hearts, Cardcaptor Sakura, Durarara, Fairy Tail, Full Metal Panic, Kara no Kyoukai, Kodomo no Omocha, Kuroshitsuji, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt... well, I could make a list. I guess it depends on what type of anime you prefer :D
