I like to think that most people can ignore the quality issues that just come with using older anime sources because we're used to seeing that sort of thing. We
know it's not supposed to be vibrant and clear all the time. But when a video is using some new hotness, you can't really hide behind that anymore. Even if you obtain your footage by questionable means, that high quality source is very likely out there if you know what to look for.
Lower video quality is fine until it becomes a - "Wow...look at all that blocking!" - distraction.
