Anime Expo 2011: AMV Phantasmagorical

Post by KagatoAMV » Tue Jul 05, 2011 10:48 pm

Despite the scheduling snafu at the last moment, the late night AMV screening at AX went quite well. I want to express my thanks to AX's video room staff for the efforts in working everything out, we started 30 min late and they were able to stay open 30 minutes longer than the LACC wanted us to be there.

I especially want to thank Vlad for his invaluable assistance in putting together the playlist.

And thanks to TheNickus for normalizing all the audio, producing all the Chyron style credit text between each video, and burning the show to DVD.

As promised, the Phantasmagorical's Playlist

I enjoyed the show, but I had to leave early since Niotex had to leave early (and he had my AMV Chef chair in his car).

Thanks for playing Die Another Day, but I noticed it was cropped and it lagged a bit due to it being re-encoded. If you need an mpeg2 in the future, let me know.

Great to hear there was such a great turnout... I see the hunger for a more AMV stuff at AX (maybe it is time for an AMV room?

I definetly think such a thing would be succesful at anime expo. Michael said he's planning on gtting one in - it's just a matter of working up to that point. I believe I mentioned this to Nic or someone else at the con but I think AMV being in Concourse was a blessing in disguise. Since only so many could make the event it not ly showed how much of a following there is for AMVs but it also I believe forced them to look into the other AMV events to "get their fix" so to speak which helped raise awareness for other AMV related events we have and could have at the convention.

Well, the ironic part is that every AMV room I've run has outperformed any of the video rooms hands down for most of the con. At such large cons, it's all about getting people into the rooms and out of the halls to enjoy themselves. AMV Room do just that if run the right way. Sakura-Con has a huge AMV room (bigggest there is) and for many blocks, there are a LOT of people in it.
