Section VIII: READ

DO NOT USE XVID/DIVX FILES IN VEGAS VIDEO OR ANY VIDEO EDITING PROGRAM.

You will, in a 99.9% chance, HAVE A PLAYBACK ISSUE. So, instead, either re-encode the file in something over that xvid/divx or NOT USE THE FILE AT ALL.

:)
Please tell me a good format then? mpg and mp4 don't run properly. I have a 1TB Hard Drive with only 100 gigs left so I'm trying to save space.
Clear space, get new HDD or subclip carefully. Filemounting is also an option.
You should ALWAYS edit with lossless files.

Every time I rendered a video, it reappears in a different part of the video, I'm not using divx anymore, both Lagerith and huffyyuv shows the same problem.
Any suggestions?

I have a question. below you will see an image, which shows the video timeline and footage timeline(i dont use trimmer or use seperate clips from virtual dub, for the kind of video i want to do, i just placed 40 mins of footage unto the timeline, then editted the clips, and dragged them to one of the three bars beneath (3 categories of footage)) Now do i have to drag all those clips serperatly to the front? or is there a function which automaticly gets rid of the gaps between 2 clips?
I know ppl will hate me for my way of working haha but this video is something entirely different (overview of an game experience) so i thought of this method)

Thanks in advance !

How do I drag in a .avi file so that I can start experimenting around with it? It keeps complaining every time I try to.

Is the avi lossless as explained in this guide? Vegas doesn't have to accept DivX/XviD .avi and even if it will, it will probably be buggy.

What program should I use instead to edit .avi files?

Use Avisynth to convert any file you have (mkv, mp4, avi) to a lossless avi, then import it to Vegas.
