I apologize for being slow in making new Salads.
I've been fighting a migraine since Monday evening.
Still kicking my arse.
I finally sent the official Otakon parody submission forms in the mail today.
Scott should get them by Friday or Saturday.
I will pop off a new render tomorrow and make whatever fixes I can before uploading the final Friday.

Are you receiving any e-mails from Scott? And are you responding? He still claims he doesn't hear back from you at all, so if you are responding, or not getting his e-mails at all, something odd is happening. If you're not getting them, check your junk e-mail and see if any may have gone in there.

Why did you wait until now to send the forms... seriously? You left it until the cutoff day and made it uncertain if it'd even arrive before the cutoff day? What about the info for the booklet, did you get that in way back when that was due so we'll be in it?

And make sure you're drinking a lot of water, and I do mean a lot. It's insane how dehydrated people outside the desert get without even noticing, and it definitely helps regulate everything about the body to keep hydrated. Get electrolytes in there too. It's what plants need!

Last I heard from Scott was May 28.
I contacted him twice after that asking if he got the download link I sent.
Still haven't heard back.
He's very difficult to reach.
I still haven't received FTP upload permission.
As I stated before, we have our place in the program book.

" I'm really looking forward to the program this
year. We're jam packed. I think there are... seven new parodies
being shown this year. Six or seven. We'll probably have to spread
over the two evenings again, which is a good problem to have!"

And I needed to send a full list of anime sources with the submission form so I had to make sure I included as many as we were gonna use since clips were coming in late and all.
It will be postmarked before the deadline and he'll have the form in time.
I'll check my spam filter since he mentioned also sending me messages from his personal account (none of which I've received).

EDIT: Nope...nothing. :(

Okay, this is really screwed up, because he has claimed he's been sending stuff for a while and never hears from you. You claim you're not getting things from him. Something's not right here.

scott.a.melzer@gmail.com

Are you using that e-mail? You have a couple different ones if I remember correctly, maybe something strange is happening with one of them. He responds to my e-mails very punctually usually, so there is definitely something wrong with one of the two of your e-mails.

I can be a liaison between you two for now, and get that permission for you from him. But try to write an e-mail asking if he gets it and ask him to respond so that you can make sure communication is open.

I sent a message to both of his emails last night and got responses from both of them.
I checked my spam and trash filters on both of my accounts and found nothing.
So I have no idea what the problem is.
One question though.
How do I use a ZIP program to split large files (like this one is gonna approach 3GB)?
They each have to be under 1GB in order to use Megaupload since he has no FTP.
Also...where is the file for the corrected "Fluffy" audio?

EDIT: nvm...I took the tail end of the one fixed clip (Dragon Crisis) and replaced the other "fluffy"s with it.

I got cc'd on the e-mails scott sent back to you. Not sure what happened, but hopefully it was just a fluke.

Anyway, please make a render for tonight. I want as many of us as possible to take a look and make sure everything's where it'll fit best, and also we'll have time for one last render tonight. One crucial thing is to make sure that gundam clip is somewhere in the first 10 seconds of the credits. If you'd like, I can make a quick version using the same thing I did with the Haruhi clip and have it fizzle in, but chances are this one will play just fine underneath the credits so it won't extend them any longer.

And don't forget to stroke the credits. They really get near impossible to read under certain tags.

As for splitting a zip or rar, I don't actually know how to do that. I have to work very very hard for the next 6 hours. Hopefully I finish this deadline, then I can help tonight, but as of this message, I'm in crunch mode. Try googling it and seeing if that can answer it. I don't know if the free version can do it.

In winrar it's on the bottom left of the screen. Not sure where it is in 7zip. Splitting zip-files (if possible) isnt that great of an idea. Use rar if you want to do that.

Also, I've sent you an email (to your gmail) with a temp ftp account you can use to send it.
As long as you don't use it for anything other than amv salad, I don't mind. You can send the file at once, without zip or rar.

Hope it's fast enough for American downloads / uploads, since my hoster is based in Germany and is kind of a 'low cost high overhead' hoster, though practically unlimited in everything.

Send me a mail if I can delete the account (when you don't need it anymore).
You can use it to display beta's as well, no problem, just remove files when they're not needed anymore. :)

Here's what Scott said earlier today:

Splitting them into less than 1 gig files and putting them on MegaUpload, then
sending me the links is what almost everyone's doing, and what we did
for the test version. If the file IS over a gig, make sure that you
use a zip program to split it. Don't send me a "part one mpeg" and a
"part two mpeg" because I'll have to reattach them.

I'm not sure what he's asking me to do...

Winrar splits into parts of a determinable size, allowing a file to be 'sewn together' on the other side. The file is broken up into ".part#.rar" files where # is the part number, determined by how many parts you split it into. This is done through winrar. I'm surprised you've never seen any separated rar files before. He is specifically telling you NOT to make multiple mpegs and send them so that he would have to dump them into an editing software and put them together himself basically. You make one file and send it through the splitting process in winrar and upload the various parts.

But make sure you're showing us a version tonight so we can look for any last-minute fixes or changes that need to be done. Don't send it off without our perusal. And make sure you make note of any of the changes we've mentioned over the last few pages.

Hokay...I believe this is ready for render.
I don't have an on-board effect to make the final title screen explode into pieces so I went with a fade.
Bleh.
As for the credit text, I colored the whites yellow and bolded them so they wouldn't blend so much with the background.
I'm also shrinking the tags so they'll fit neatly to the right side of the screen as the credits roll to the left (as amusing as krvabo's and CMP's exploding in full screen is).
Because I shortened the song, the credits are going to scroll faster than in previous years so people are gonna have to read quickly or download the video to see them all.
I'm gonna render this and post it a bit later.
I don't have all day Friday to do any changes, never mind a possible re-render and upload so let's hope this one works.

In lieu of doing a full re-render of the whole production to check the credits, why don't you try stroking the text and keeping everything full-screen, and then render the credits a second way the way you described and we'll see how they work. I don't like the idea of shrinking the tags, especially the explosion ones, because they take up a lot of space visually and actually are more entertaining larger. The more entertaining they are, the more willing people are to stay in their seats. Rendering those tests shouldn't take a long time to render, and the text changes, I don't know how you've been doing the credits, but that's a quick select->stroke, give or take de-selecting the titles ^^ Don't expect an endless night, but we'll be doing a late one probably ^^

Either way, expect another render later tonight, though. I know you had a migraine and such, but it's crunch time, we had several small things to change, and we have just enough time to make sure it's as good as it can be.

Sony Vegas won't allow the text within the credit roll to be "stroked."
All I can do is the very basic adjustments to the text.
I dunno why the credit roll function won't allow shadowing.
But I think things turned out okay.
Yeah, shrinking the explosive tags feels a bit weird but have a look to be sure.

That's very strange that you can't stroke text. That's a basic function of... well... everything? Weird. But then if it's like you say and it's their specific credit roll, that's a useful feature, but I'm surprised they'd limit it like that. Oh well. I guess it's rare for credits to have stroked text, since it all usually happens on a black background.

257mb AAC264 mp4

AMVS5: almost final - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=117VEMAN

Before anyone points out the two or three minor errors still in the credits, I corrected them mid-render so the final will reflect that.
Any additions and adjustments must be pointed out NOW or forever be lost to time and space and all that jazz...

God fucking dammit... I tried to download Scott's intro update to watch, it fucked up during the download, now Megupload is constantly telling me I'm over the limit and can't download. I've tried clearing the cache and everything.

Can you list what you adjusted at least? I know you updated the Fluffy audio, did you get my new version of K-on Leprechaun? Did it sounds okay? Did you move the Gundam one? How's it feel in its new location if you did?

I dunno... god dammit, fucking megaupload!
