Ok, finally able to watch it. It was way choppy for me too (and my while the whole thing played my player said it was only 2:48 lol).

I gotta say though, I don't like the full screen Robot Unicorn explosion at ALL. I REALLY want it to go back to the other one. I'll just have to agree to disagree with Gaelstrom about it, I think it's way funnier being like in the game. I hate it to the point I think I'd actually almost rather not use it then have it that way.
Other then that, making the Princess And The Frog one shorter definitely cuts on the drag. As does cutting back on the Muppet Babies one.

I also think having the Gundam one go right into the teaser feels sort of awkward. It's not awful but it may work better if it's a credit breaker.

Other then that...man this flows great. It's SO solid.

By the way, what IS the running time on this now since my computer can't tell.

Credits included now, and including the not-yet-in Chobits clip and Captpan's it'll be approximately 27:30. (That file was 26:50).

I disagree to a point, I think keeping Robot Unicorn too close to the game's explosion isn't necessarily the best choice, but perhaps having just had it hit with this new timing is enough. Having it blow up in the middle of "harmony" is much, much funnier to me since it's just enough time for the watcher's mind to catch up to what they know is going to happen. So it really keeps them in the moment (although I want to see it without jumping problems to make sure the timing feels right). I think the fact that it had too much time between the scene start and the explosion was the biggest offender, more than whatever the explosion ends up being. I really do want to find a large explosion on a cliff somewhere though and try cutting to it to see what would happen, although I do recognize the potential that cutting away from it could backfire... may be fun to experiment with.

And I didn't even notice Princess and the Frog was edited down, I did recognize it didn't feel as slow though, I thought I was just used to it. So if it was shortened, excellent ^^ It felt great.

EDIT:

One last thing I want to know seriously. Does anyone think the text during the Geass effect in the intro is too hard to read? I keep getting this little inkling that it's a hair too fast or the color blends too much. If anyone has any feelings on this, please speak up, I can adjust it pretty quickly, but I'm sure I'll have to do so fast.

Also I'll accept your slow clap, I made the teaser :awesome:

Shoulda known. When we meet this year for dinner on Thursday night, because I refuse to allow my flight to be 8 hours delayed again, remind me that I owe you a high five. I owe you several from Geico money anyway. In fact, screw it, I wanna have your babies.

No no, you're my hero for making that epic Doctor Who opening. It really is the best thing ever. I appreciate the constructive criticism too (even if it doesn't always seem it or if I don't always agree lol).

Honestly though I'm not totally sure how available I'll be Thursday...all of my room mates are people I generally only see either AT Otakon because they were net friends to begin with or now for limited times because they'd moved, so Thursday has kind of always been "omg we need to reconnect!!!" night. We'll see though, maybe I can pop by. Otakujpop (who made the On a Boat and Gay clips) is also rooming with me at Otakon. If nothing else we should try and meet up post Salad somewhere. Maybe pick a designated spot so it's not like last year, where, I found Deuce because I already knew him and that's it lol.
BTW who IS going to Otakon?

Hope the Otaku in attendance will agree with you on the Dr. Who intro. :D

I definitely am going to Otakon. In fact, I'd say we make it a reconnection dinner really. I meet a friend at Otakon I only see once a year as well. Since we all have to eat Thursday night (if we're there of course) anyway, may as well just be all us AMVS creators and our friends. Just a big social occasion for all us antisocial otaku! I personally will be there with either 3 or 4 other friends and we always hit up 5 Guys, and it's always crowded though of course, so we could set a designated meeting time there, get food, and go outside, or at some other restaurant and at least try to do an initial connection with one another. Another possibility is, depending on peoples' travel plans, also meeting for lunch on Sunday since it's a wrap-up day. I'm for both, personally, I want to do something new this trip. 10 years going to Otakon and eventually the carnival atmosphere does need something new to it to mix it up... hence why I started making parodies in the first place ^^

I forget if this was mentioned before... did we end up not getting a panel Deuce?

I read the panel list Otakon posted and didn't see it. (So sad).

Me and my friends stay Sunday night, because it's just easier for the people traveling cross country to not have to cut Sunday super short. (My farthest room mate is from California).

From what I've seen, there's a lot of general cross over where nerd stuff is involved. A high percentage of people who like anime are also into stuff like Who, Star Trek, etc.

I think I like the Azumanga cat one towards the end actually. I think it's a definite high note to come so close to the end.

I also wonder how much laughing is going to be coming for the Tuna one because there IS a laugh track lol.

I also noticed I must have left in like a second of black at the end of the Star Trekin' one.

I noticed that the Excel contruction one was gone, and the Muppet Babies and Princess and the Frog one were shortened. Was anything else missing? It felt like it but I couldn't tell.

I've found the best flight out to be 6 PM Sunday. Plenty of time to leave leisurely, and saves a night of hotel costs :D

Maybe we can squeeze in if there's a panel cancellation or something... oh well.

You're right about the Azumnaga one... I think it's the clips that surround it that kind of affected it for me. Toys R Us I just HATE those singing kids... it's not even the clip itself, it's those damn singing kids who can't sing worth shit that have grated on me since the commercial came into existence. I'd say my original statement works for it, switch it and Winter Wonderland (should have been calling it this from the onset actually -_-) since it's higher energy like you said.

I didn't notice the black at the end of Star Trekkin' until you mentioned it, but yeah, worth editing out.

Excel missing... I'm sorry to say I didn't miss it. Overall everything felt very swift and strong until the final few clips throughout the entire production for me.

One last thing I forgot, the 'fluffy' audio in the final one is low as well. So I guess the only one that has the new fluffy audio is the dog girl one? We gotsta fix that.

And also, that 'audience deaf' one, I noticed on a rewatch that the loud burst noise feels a biiiit delayed from the hit of the wand. I forget if that's part of the original movie or not, but it felt like it left me hangin' for a split second. Think we should tighten that up a bit?

...and oh my god, I just saw your new production tag...

....ROFL. I didn't even notice it was gone either until you said so, and I watched that beta twice. That settles that. :P (I think my biggest hangup with keeping that in there is that it was something of mine OTHER than Ouran, DN, and Hetalia... I swear to god I've seen other anime too. :uhoh: )

And yeah, my source audio for the Happy Meal clip was absolute fail, but all I could find. That was also months ago, so I'll still be on the lookout. (Speaking of being on the lookout, Gaelstrom, did you have any specific requests for characters on the phone in Hetalia?)

And damn it, now I want McDonald's. This almost never happens. But I also want to not upset my stomach.

I will most DEFINITELY be at Otakon. It's like... a mile from my apartment. (Which won't be the case after August or so, sadly, I'll have to travel next year like everyone else T_T but at least it'll only be an hour or so!) I have yet to go to any of the AMV meetups though... but, since last year's Thursday pre-reg line was impossibly smooth and quick because of the barcode scanning, that night will be more free for me! (I remember standing for hours the years before...)

Oh, and to whomever made the MY BRAAAAHHND clip, that actually made my husband laugh out loud and he's not even much into anime.

Well here's my thought, idealy, I'd be able to find English audio and somewhere in the series there'd be an argument with Germany about something. I honestly don't think I have time to watch this one and do this as well as the Stein one in under a week, especially if I have more animation work on the way, but really all I'd need is a good lead-in. Something that an Asian country would say that can be insinuated through cuts that he was saying it to/about Germany or whatever. Like for a random example China going "Well my economy is rising faster than any of yours!" and it can just go into "Oh okay... fuck face..." That's not a great example, but it's something like what I'd be looking for personally ^^ Just a viable lead-in. As for the phone, I'm not sure about the country's relationships since I haven't watched the series, so part of me is thinking this one can wait until next year, but I'd like to get it in while Hetalia is still fresh.

The idea was more just wide-eyed amazement for me after having only seen episode 1. As soon as he does the "FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!" part I left the scene virtually unchanged. All the cuts with the exception of the still of China and that last "I WILL FUCK YOU UP!" pointing shot were completely, 100% anime original. Like the damn scene was made for it. That's also why it was a slow start since I didn't spend more than 10 minutes throwing it together ^^

*cough*You should vote for me in AMA's Amv contest*cough*

Though as far as the reaction video coming from this goes...I wouldn't get your hopes too high since NO audience is going to be as large as Otakon. I've seen last year's at 2 other cons and people still laughed but weren't into it at quite the same levels as at Otakon. Otakon was unreal. I watch that reaction video sometimes when I'v feeling down. lol.

Also I swear I watch other stuff besides Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, Haruhi, and Azumanga lol. I just don't actually physically own a lot on dvd, have even less ripped because it takes so damn long to do, and it's usually kind of hard to find sub-less stuff online.

I don't expect much, but then I always try to expect nothing no matter what I watch ^^ I just want to hear where/if things land.

That's why I pointed out the ojosoft media converter and highly suggested you all get it when it was that cheap. Nearly every MKV out there is soft-subbed, and those subs don't come through during a conversion to AVI format. So when I honestly don't feel like ripping some of my DVDs, I just do a torrent and convert them all over a few hours as I look for footage in the MKVs while noting certain times. I already own most of the series I use, and those I don't own I'll be buying when they come out, so frankly I don't really care about torrenting them.

And I've watched more than FMA, Haruhi, K-on and Gundam! I swear! Actually the intro states that pretty well I think :D I think we all just hit the widest audience when we use the most popular anime and we know it. Guess our goal next year is to widen our repertoire.

Have fun, peeps!

Update on my end. It turns out Scott needs the intro stuff by Monday, and the submission finals by Friday, so I've just gotten my footage of Stein ripped... a LOT of it... and that's not all, I need to consider some peripherals as well, so I'll probably have to go through all of Soul Eater in VirtualDub again to find stuff to fill some areas.

Either way, it'll probably be down to the wire since I have to make some things for Scott quickly ad then move back to this one. Sorry, Deuce, but if by Wednesday I'm not sure I can finish it we'll nix the whole idea for this year. That way you won't have to go a sleepless night Friday on my account ^^

Unfortunately unless this weekend this Soul Eater clip comes together with miracle speed, I probably can't do the Hetalia Les Grossman. That reference is already a few years old though, and it's held up over time, so that one I can save for next year and nobody would mind. I think Charlie Sheen's earlier antics are already on their way out of popular memory, so I feel I need to make use of this as soon as possible. Wish me luck.

Again, have fun, and lookin' forward to the reaction video!
